We just got back from a TERRIFIC walk along the river; come along and see....
The Canopy has really filled in with all the rain that we have been getting here. |
A Mimosa starting to bloom. |
The remains of a snail - we saw several. |
A 17 year cycle Cicadas. |
"Dead-man's fingers" growing on a stump. |
Alien looking vine thats covered in heavy thick thorns. |
Go ahead step on this... you'll feel pain like you never have before - FIRE-ANT Hill. |
Toad that I flipped as I walked along - luckily he wasn't hurt just looked very ticked off. |
Those bad storms that moved through last week took this bridge out - supports are snapped underneath so we weren't able to continue on. |
The tree that came down was HUGE! |
Lunar Moth bits - we are thinking it was a snack for a bird. |
Bloodwort |
Pretty little 4 to 5 foot snake - Eastern King-snake - Harmless egg layer - Powerful Constrictor - eats other snakes - even pit vipers.. |
This is a fun event; especially if you have little's to share it with. |
Enjoyed the view of where you live! Your cicada looks like the Black Prince ones we have. Ha ha, that toad does look ticked off but his camouflage is pretty good. Lucky for him with a snake in the vicinity.
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice walk. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI really don't miss the cicada killers. Those things that look like overgrown hornets? Ugh! My husband was wondering if you had the 17-yr cicadas... now I know. :) I hate fire ants, too. We are loaded with them here in Florida. But right now we are overrun with wretched lovebugs... you don't get those, do you?
