I'm So Busy

I've been working on some crafts that will be gifts and here they are in process...
These ornaments take 8 yards of ribbon but look stunning!
I will be adding all sorts of stuff to the top next... lace, a beaded stick pin, ribbon, flowers and possibly tulle.

Altering a letter - more to be added

YEAH ! A walk by the river

Scott and I took a lovely walk along the river this evening. I took a few photos and then edited them with Gimp to make them a bit better. It was a beautiful time to walk and Scott is feeling well enough he was actually wanting to talk again and we discussed the beauty that surrounded us. Our color is much more subdued than those in the "Great White North" but it's still pretty if not as breath taking as those in the cooler regions. We haven't even had a frost yet and I'm typing this up wearing a tank top. It seems cold weather will never arrive for us and the viscous bugs (critters and viruses) will be wreaking havoc on us until next Summer.

Scott pulled over so he could take these photos of the sun hitting the seed heads on these weeds in the power line right of way...

I didn't edit his photos at all these are just as he took them. And the stinker shot this photo of me; I always look tired and swollen... but it's me (I did edit this one just a little as I was in the shade of the car).

Our House at Dusk

Scott and I took a drive to the boat ramp and out past Amazon's Warehouse. The sunset was gorgeous and the reflection of the sunset on the clouds to the other side of us was nearly as beautiful. It was nice to get out of the house to do something fun again. We did spot a few deer but they were camera shy.

When we arrived home I thought a new picture of the house with some "Autumn" color would be nice and Scott pointed out that the moon is nearly a half circle. The cedar tree was just a small seedling when we planted it and now it seems to be reaching for the sky. I don't believe we will be covering it with Christmas lights this year as we would have to hire a crane to reach the top.

Before we left the house I noticed this little thief on the bird feeder...
So far we haven't seen any birds on the feeders but it won't be long now as they WILL notice the squirrels chowing down.

A quick update on Scott; he returned to our Doctor today and things are actually looking a little better but he still has a way to go to be completely well again. The Doctor gave him a prescription for Steroids to help clear it out of his head and gave him a work excuse (bed-rest slip) so he will be off until Thursday. The Doctor also got Scott a referral to see an E.N.T Specialist in a couple weeks. He was also told he might be well advised to find different employment since his current job seems to be aggravating his sinuses. I WISH he could... he keeps applying to places so hopefully something will "click" soon.

I went in to work at 3 AM this morning to help get things built for the truck that delivered today - CHRISTMAS!!!! This week lots MORE Christmas crafts, ribbon, flags and stocking stuffers!!! UGH! It really HAS begun... can't deny it anymore.

In Our Yard

I walked around in our front yard looking for lovelies to share. My blackberry bushes  and spearmint are really filling in their raised bed. Hopefully next Summer we will be picking berries in our own front yard. They really benefited from the rain we've had this year.

The Confederate rose is really putting on a lovely show in the side yard. It has a bunch of buds that will be opening from now until Christmas. I just love this plant!

The dogwood tree is really getting colorful with it's leaves changing and it's berries growing bright red.

The last photo I believe to be a variety of Camilia that we rarely see the blooms as they open to the center of the bush. I had to move several branches just to get this photo to share. The bush was here when we moved in so that is why I'm not sure of it's name.

Photographic Challenge - 3rd Drawer

I was just reading Maria's post for a weekly challenge she participates in and thought that I would join in the fun and capture some photo's of the "3rd Drawer's" in our house... they ain't pretty.

This drawer hasn't been opened in years... time to donate I think.

My Crochet Cotton drawer for doilies and tatting thread to make special baby bonnets.

My Interfacing drawer for clothing and craft projects.

2 - 3rd drawers of crafting supplies - glue sticks and ink pads.

My unsightly everyday shirt drawer - I guess I should fold and place them in more carefully.
More details.... Ramblings of a Square Peg is the originating site for this "Scavenger Hunt".

Time for Chocolate!

WITH CHERRIES!!!!!

Chocolate will improve any ones mood! YUMMY!

And just so you all know I've requested 4 days off in a row!!!! November 1-4th I will be home relaxing and creating! YEAH!

And Scott is feeling a bit better - still gets some wicked head aches and pressure but his mood has improved IMMENSELY! Feels like my hubby is returning to me.

Update

Scott went back to the Doctor yesterday afternoon and got two shots - a potent anti-biotic and a strong anti-inflammatory medication. And received another 14 day prescription for yet another anti-biotic. He learned more about the other anti-biotic  he had been on twice and found out it can also cause tendons to explode... AWESOME (said with a LOT of sarcasm). And causes paranoia! So glad he is off that stuff and am hoping this round of antibiotics clear's this stuff up... this is just crazy! He is sick of feeling bad and I am worried about him staying sick SO LONG. He has basically been ill since July with this crap.

Yesterday he also found out that we may not get a paycheck from his job this week as "something went wrong with the time clocks"... FOR TWO WEEKS! HELLO!!! After the first week why wasn't something done to prevent the loss of 2 full weeks of payroll hours?! This is the craziest place he has ever worked! I hope they get it fixed IMMEDIATELY! My hours may be crazy but I know I will get my paycheck.

I have to unload the hutch so that we can move it so I can rip up the last 3 feet of carpet in the dining room; perhaps I will get to it today. I think I need to make a list of tasks to get done around here. For now I have to put on my work clothes and tame my hair for today. I hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Rounded out the weekend with.....

Carpet removal! Scott went out to wash his car and a wild hare took hold of me and I decided to get a start on ripping up the carpet that was in the dining area that we are re-purposing as an office. The dining room furniture is being moved into what used to be our den. And our front room that now contains our computers and such will become our "Living room" where guests can sit and talk with us. We don't have a TV and don't miss it a bit. Greg has his TV in his room and we hear it enough. We watch programs on my computer.

AND...
I created this Spooky frame for a swap I am in. I hope the gal I'm swapping with likes it.

Back from No-where

The Nap Lures have been working overtime!
I haven't been on a trip to anywhere so that is why I am "Back from Nowhere". I've  just been working and sleeping. The temperature changes have been making me feel all out of sorts. I think I will start back on taking a multi-vitamin and see if that will help.

Scott just finished his third anti-biotic and is STILL not feeling well so we may be heading off to the Urgent Care today if our Family Practice doesn't have Sunday hours. He is worried and in turn I am as well. And to top things off he is supposed to be working 10 hour shifts this next week  - mandatory 10 hour shifts. He has been so NOT himself. He is still sleeping at the moment and I'm going to let him rest as long as he can, perhaps that will help.

Yesterday I went shopping at Michael's for my friend, Amelia in South Africa, She asked me if I would go for her if she sent me money via Pay Pal so I did. They don't get the kinds of things for card crafting there as we do here so I told her that I would be glad to do that for her. Scott went with me but ended up going out to the car as the music and argumentative women were getting on his nerves. I told him that is a daily thing for me and I'm used to it.

Image from Google Images
After we left Michael's we drove out over the Lake Murray Dam to Lexington to go to Tractor Supply to pick up some dog food and sunflower seed for the wild birds. We will start feeding them now that the weather has turned cooler. I will not feed them when foraging is available but I will help them out in the Winter months. If the Lake Murray Dam ever broke our escape route would be to drive to Charleston as the water would cover our house and we are miles away from this.

After Tractor Supply we stopped at World Market for a bag of coffee as we were getting low and we can't run out of coffee. I would have liked to just browse a bit longer in World Market but Scott was starting to feel REALLY out of sorts so I told him he needed to be taken home and put to bed after some lunch. Just like I used to do Greg when he was little... men really are just little boys sometimes.

Today will be a home body day as I REALLY need to clean house and we have a few yard tasks that need to be taken care of. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Focus on the positive...

And ignore that Elephant sitting on your heart. (At least that is what i am trying to do). I'm just having a bad afternoon filled with sadness and feelings of lonesomeness. I'll be so glad when my fellas get home.

I am truly Blessed beyond measure in finding Scott. He is my rock... we are each others'... we hold each other up and would be lost without the other. I know this in my very being.

I truly envy those families that freely reach out to one another and love each other and support each other. I've always had a single "rock of support"... first it was my Grandma and then my Sweet Husband.

For the most part I focus on the positives but every once in awhile I have one of these "horrible black days"... perhaps I should have skipped the nap today as before it I was feeling GREAT and upbeat. Things will be better tomorrow... a fresh new day!

Fall

It is finally feeling like Fall here and we are needing our winter robes in the morning and slippers or socks on our feet. I will be wearing a jacket this morning. Hot coffee is EXTRA wonderful on a brisk morning. I really should start getting ready for work but the thought of wetting my hair down is not very appealing. My hair is VERY large this morning - the down side of natural wave is BEDHEAD LARGENESS! Scott just called me a "HEDGEHOG!"... I think I will go wet it down now.
Hopefully it will dry a bit before I head out the door

The South Carolina State Fair starts tomorrow. I would love to go and see the displays and perhaps a "Fair food lunch" but Scott has to work and my friends are all working at that time of day so I may go over by myself one day.

Seasonal Trucks

This morning I'm going in an hour earlier as we are getting a Seasonal delivery at 7:45 and we have to prepare sections of the store for all the new products. MORE Christmas! We had started compressing and down sizing Halloween on Friday. The "crunch" is on for Retailers... the final three months of this year to make a profit. UGH!

I keep thinking about how much I'd love to be home simply creating beautiful items. Well for now it's push push push for someone else to make a few dollars to keep us going.

Timmerman Trail

Scott and I decided to walk along the Timmerman Trail near the SCE&G complex just to get out of the house for a little while. We did not spot any gators today but we did watch a couple guys in canoes for a little while; they looked like they were having a lot of fun.

Of course Nature had some beauties for us to appreciate and photograph as always. Lots of fungus from all the rain we've been getting lately and the Spanish Moss hanging from the tree's is always so attractive.

Another year nearly gone...

Hello to all those that have followed this blog for some time. I have not posted in quite awhile so thought I would pop over and write some...
