Last Day Of the Month

I tell you what... January absolutely BLEW RIGHT ON BY ME! Tuesday we went to Scott's Uncle's funeral and Scott was presented with Uncle Jesse's Flag from his coffin. The Honor Guard performed their Duty well and we were all greatly touched that they came and paid tribute to a WWII Veteran. We will cherish this flag always and I will get a case and plaque made for it as soon as I can.

I've been trying to do a little crafty projects and today I completed this Art Journal page; it's Fairy Houses and I really like how the glitter glue looks like real little lights on the houses. The next prompt from my friend is "complete a abstract project/page to reflect an emotion". HMMMmmmm... thinking.

I need to get some laundry done today as well as a bit of housework before I start dinner and it's almost 3 PM all ready. I've been working short shifts this week - just 4 hours each day. Which has been nice except for the fact we will "feel" it next payday. "Can't have your cake and eat it to" is what my Grandma would say.

I guess I better get busy.

Amazing Moon and Goodbye Uncle Jesse

Moon Shots I took with my phone camera last night.
Christmas 2011
Yesterday morning at 3 AM Uncle Jesse went to see his beloved wife once more. He died peacefully in his sleep. I find comfort in his passing as he was so tired, weary and sick when we saw him last Saturday. He was ready to leave this World. Rest in Peace dear Uncle.

The BIRDS!

Just some of today's visitors. Getting the shots of the Oriole was nearly impossible.

Winter

It is feeling more like Winter here this week and the  temps may be such that we get to see a little snow tomorrow night. But you won't catch me holding my breath for that to happen. Luckily I will be back home before it even starts to rain or snow.

Here are some OLD pictures for you all to enjoy...

Quiet Sunday at Home

Yesterday we spent the entire day in the Upstate. First we helped move some of Scott's Uncle's things to a new Home.

Visited a Confederate Museum that was located across the street and then went to Spartanburg to see my folks and to pick up some eggs as Mom is over run in them at the moment.

Mom has all sorts of chickens - can you see all the different colors?

More from my Art Journal

This is the second page I completed this week. I used paints, inks, rubber stamps, a Sharpie silver marker, and glitter glue. I also used a "Dixie" cup to make the circles on the page and a fabric paint to go over the "Be Yourself"..

For this page I used only the items contained in the little $2 child's art set that Scott got me for Christmas. Water colors, markers, colored pencils and crayons.

A day later

"Tangled Vine in a Haze Maze"
There now thats 3 colors and 1 neutral. I may do another page this week with 3 colors and only 3 colors... BUT different.... tints, shades and tones. Perhaps the facing page would be an interesting place to post a color swatch page with descriptions of how the colors were created. Good idea?

LOL... Still wasn't 100% happy so I went back in with a black marker and here is the result...

Much Better

Well I awoke to my old self again. Full of energy and ready to go. Made breakfast, painted in my Art Journal (more on that in a minute); went to the grocery store and the gas station; washed a comforter Greg had put in the laundry and helped Greg prepare a meal. Then after we ate Greg and I went out in the garage and cleaned up his stuff to get it out of his father's way so that Scott can actually get some work done out there. Perhaps the completion of the laundry room is in the near future.

Back to the page in my Art Journal; this weeks prompt was "use 3 color's".

So that is what I did... Pink, Purple and Black...
"Haze Maze"

From 2 different perspectives. To me it feels like something from the 1980's coming back to haunt me. LOL I am thoroughly enjoying these weekly Art Prompts that Wendy is offering on You Tube. But is black a color? or  Neutral? May have to ask my Art teaching sister about that one.... OK looks like I will be adding a bit more to this picture tomorrow or maybe even tonight after a quick refresher of the Artist Color wheel...http://www.color-wheel-artist.com/hue.html

Short work days this week and I'll be home before most people get to work. YEAH!

Week 2 - Creativity Prompt

Snow Angel
Prompt this week was "Snow Angel" and here is my picture.

I drew and colored her with my Prisma Colored pencils that Scott gave me for Christmas and then I made a HUGE mistakes and went over it with Shimmer Modge Podge which has made her looks too dark and dreary. I think I will only use that stuff on Halloween projects from now on.

I keep having to stop and rest - can't be my usual busy bee self today but I am trying to do a few little things around the house. I stop when I feel tired and lay down. I'm hoping I have just a minor case of the bug that is going around so that I can get well by Monday. FINGERS CROSSED! Next week I'm only scheduled 4 hours a day.

A friend stopped and gave me a Cracker Barrel Raspberry Lemonade; it was DELICIOUS and felt GREAT on my sore throat. THANKS DEBORAH!

Christmas/Valentines Goodie Box
I'm working on a crafty box for my friend in South Africa (HI AMELIA). I'm going to wad up tomorrows Michael's ad and include it in her package as "stuffing" so she can see what all is carried by Michaels. I just thought she may enjoy seeing the ad.

Amelia I will be sending a separate package later with the handmade goodies and a few more handmade cards. Got to get better first.

Looks like I was not Immune!

If my head starts pouring I will be going to the Dr today as soon as they open. I've had a headache and body aches all night. Looks like Type "A" flu may have caught me after all. I'm hoping it's not that but Scott say's "You're looking like how I felt". CRAP! I'll wait and see.

There are three new Interior Collections at Michael's... at least in our store. Each store is slated to get different collections. And there are lots of Valentines and St Patrick's crafting supplies there as well. I've helped reset and fill so many new items that it made my head spin. WOW!

It's warmed up so much the past few days that yesterday I didn't even need a jacket to go to work. And in the evenings we have been hearing the frogs (peepers) down at the creek. But we are truly hoping it turns back cold to kill back some of the bug population.

I'm going to climb in the recliner for awhile. The fellas are still sound asleep.

Hey Gang

This is just a quick note to let you all know that I'm up to my ears with trying to work and care for my two fellas. Greg (son) returned to work today thankfully. It's so nice seeing him cheerful and full of life once more. Last Saturday was a different story and we ended up at the Doctors office. Greg had Uvualitis  and Sinusitis and has been on a steroid and an antibiotic and is feeling nearly good as new but still has several days of medications left.

NOW  Scott (Dear Hubby) also went to the Dr last Saturday and was diagnosed with Sinusitis as well and put on an antibiotic. WELL... that was WRONG as he just became more ill and Monday (yesterday) we returned to the Dr (this time our regular Dr) and he was given "THE NEWS".... "Congratulations you have Type A Flu". AWESOME! NOT! So I'm feeling much like Henny Penny running around screaming... THE SKY IS FALLING... THE SKY IS FALLING. Well at least thats how I've been feeling. Just got up from a much needed nap and feeling rejuvenated... now if I could just get Scott to go rest a bit. Ah well all he is doing is sitting and watching Jay Lenno's Garage online.

Growing Avocado

I've watched some video's on You Tube and we are going to try to grow an Avocado tree. I've never grown one before and need to read more about them as I'm not sure it is something that would survive outdoors here. It may have to be grown in a pot and brought in during the winter cold.

First page in my new Art Journal... prompt was "Goals and Dreams for 2013"

I'm thinking of doing an "About me" in the front cover ; perhaps tomorrow.

Today was spent mostly in a Doctor's office with my fellas. Scott has a sinus infection and Greg has Uvulitis and Sinusitis. Greg was VERY ill and had to have two injections before we left the Doctor's office. He has steroids and an antibiotic to take for the next 10 days. Scott has Sinusitis and is also on an antibiotic. So far I'm still pretty well.... just tired. KNOCK ON WOOD!

Scott is thoroughly enjoying is cordless weather station that I got him for Christmas. As the weather changes the little mans clothing changes... doesn't he look cold tonight? When it rains he has an umbrella in his right hand. It's pretty neat and Scott LOVES it!

Art Journal

I decided to start a mixed media Art journal and yesterday I started working on the cover. It started off looking like this...
Then I put on about 4 coats of Gesso to cover most of the blue....
Then proceeded to add colors...

I used some words I cut from old magazines..

I'm keeping the rest of these in a file for future use in Art projects.

I want to express my creative side more this year. A friend on-line is offering up weekly prompts to help with this. This week is "Goals and Dreams for 2013". I will work on my page for that after work today.

Started the New Year off BIG...

This first day of this wonderful New Year was started with a BIG breakfast...
Chipped corn beef in cream sauce on toasted sour dough bread; cheesy grits and scrambled eggs!
This is what happens when I have time and can't decide what to cook and just start cooking. It was delicious!

Scott and I are thinking about going out for a walk in a little while before going to New Years Dinner at his Moms. Gotta eat pork, black eyed peas and collard greens to ensure wealth and happiness in the New Year.

Another year nearly gone...

Hello to all those that have followed this blog for some time. I have not posted in quite awhile so thought I would pop over and write some...
