HELLO THERE!!!!!!!

It's been ages since I posted on here and I need to get caught up. I took that nice long weekend last weekend and boy am I ever glad that I did as I got 1 DAY off this weekend. They asked me to work today as we have 2 trucks coming on the same day this week! TWO.... FULL SEMI'S. WOW! HELLO CHRISTMAS!!!! Gonna make for one EXHAUSTING day! Let's see what is on my camera card...
The City had come in and cleared out the Beavers dam... didn't slow them down and in about 3 days they had this much built back up and the water had all ready started to rise. It really is so much prettier to look at since the Beavers have moved in. Before they arrived it was an empty swampy lot full of debris.
Now this guy..... you see the little truck... yeah the street that runs from our neighbourhood up to the street where the Beaver's live is 30 MPG with 2 stops signs and a DOUBLE SOLID LINE... so no passing. Well he got right on us at the stops and would rev his engine and then he passed us and got up to about 50 or 60 MPG. He stopped at the little Quick Mart store and then came flying past us as we were looking at the Beavers so I took a picture of his dumb A DOUBLE S. A total JERK!
Saturday was my crafting group at teh Library and we altered paper bags. The first is done into a gift bag with a tag in the front pocket to hold a sentiment. This is the one I created for Christmas. I plan to make more to hold gift cards and small gifts.
Then we had time left so I showed the gals (there were only 4 of us this month) how to make a gift bag card. It has a small pocket inside to hold a gift card as well as a part of the bag to hold a small gift. They are fun and super easy to make.
This evening we had a storm move through that filled this wagon in less than 15 minutes. We quickly turned off our computers and unplugged them as during the last storm we lost our router and two printers.
And while we were "disconnected" Scott cleaned up the garlic that has been drying under the fan all  Summer on our porch. It's BEAUTIFUL! I'm going to have to figure out a way to preserve it or start giving it away. There is just so much of it.
Well I think that catches you all up. I was supposed to be off today but the Boss asked if I'd work 4 or 5 hours this morning and I worked 7 hours... I was exhausted when I got home. I ate some lunch and then took a two hour nap in the recliner. WHEW! A very busy week ahead too! I hope everyone that is lucky enough to have tomorrow has a wonderful day and stays safe.

Taking a LONG Weekend

I took yesterday and Monday off so that I could have a 4 day weekend. Greg (son) turns 28 on Sunday and I wanted to have a relaxed weekend with the family. I will be baking him a fun cake today for his birthday tomorrow. We didn't put a party together as everyone feels he is a little old for a party but I still want to celebrate his birthday. I will need to go buy some ice cream to go with the cake and see what he would like for his birthday meal.

Tuesday evening Greg starts college!! He is taking just one course and it is an introduction to college since he has been out of school for so long. One class was over $600 and the book was over $100... boy prices have gone up since Scott and I attended Tech. It will be worth it though as he will get training in a job that is highly needed now and will open up his possibilities in the job market. We are so excited for him and he is so anxious and nervous. I hope he feels a sense of success right away so that he will become totally engaged with the process.

Well I am hearing from people online that live in the UK that Fall weather has started over there and they have been feeling extremely chilled. We are even seeing signs of change in the leaves on some of the trees. But then yesterday we hit 99*F... GO FIGURE! The weather is just so bizarre!

I think the plan for today is more work on Scott's tractor shed. We went to the Habitat for Humanities ReStore yesterday and bought a window so he will have a little Natural light coming into the shed. We should be able to make a lot of progress today... at least that is what I am hoping.

I also have a project started in my craft room that I would like to get completed this weekend so that I can get it in the mail to the UK next week. It's a Teapot mini album with the theme "Downton Abbey". I have just two more pages to cover with paper and then I can added more decorations and picture mats. I will be adding pictures from the show that I found on Google. Luckily I printed them off before the storm took out our color printer. Here are the pages that have been papered and the cover that has all ready been decorated...
I hope that the lady I am sending this to will enjoy it. It's a lot of fun creating these albums.

Tractor Shed

Scott and I worked on his new tractor shed over the weekend and are sore in areas we haven't been in years... well him more than me as I sling freight daily. But I thought you all might like to see our progress...

Friday and Chainsaws!

I am ever so happy that Friday has arrived once more! I just wish the tree removers would finish up in all the different neighbour’s yards! I'm so tired of the continual groan of the chainsaws. I'm glad they have work but boy oh  boy am I wishing they were about 5 miles away. We've had several really bad storms the past couple months ( if you remember the first one took out our son's truck) and then this past weekend we lost our router and one of our printers to another storm. I have some limbs to clean up tomorrow that came off our chestnut tree as well as a bunch of green chestnuts that will require some care in their removal so as not to get stabbed by their thorns.

We are also hoping to get some progress made on Scott's new tractor shed... nothing huge just something to hold his Gravely and the lawn mowers. We started to set piers for it and then the storms moved in and knocked us out of doing any more. If Greg will help the three of us could probably knock it out... or up in no time.

Next weekend Greg turns 28! Seems like only yesterday and I was walking him to 4 YR Kindergarten. He is also taking his first College course... we are excited for him and are hoping this will be what he needs to get going on his own life's path.

Egret Watching

Last night Scott and I drove down to the boat ramp to do a little Nature watching and Scott spotted this Egret in a puddle off the side of the road and had me turn around and go back so we could watch it some. When we got near to where he had seen it I had to look and look as it had walked on into the trees a bit as they are quite shy. I turned the engine off and we sat there and watched it for a little while and I was able to get some photos and a short video of it hunting. He or she was such a beautiful creature and we thoroughly enjoyed watching it go about it's life. I hope you enjoyed watching it as much as we did.

3 AM Moon Shots

I worked an overnight Monday to Tuesday and got off work at a little after 3 AM and when I got out to my car to leave I HAD to grab my camera. The Moon was AMAZING! I am always so happy that I have my camera with me always as you never know what will be served up to enjoy and record.

Then last night I looked out the front windows and caught a glimpse of the sky and of course had to run out in the front yard to capture these...

She has some WONDERFUL sewing tutorials and since I know other's that follow my blog are also sewers I felt I needed to share a link to her in a post so you'd be sure to see it. Now I'm going back to see more of what she has shared.

An Evening Walk

After dinner last night Scott and I decided to walk at the River walk. It was very soothing and such a lovely breeze. I saw a few things to photograph but nothing too exciting, Of course there were fungis to amaze me...
This one was growing at the base of a tree near the entrance and was so striking I had to take a picture. I love how it is in layers.
I loved how this one looked like a fan.

The only other thing that caught our eye was this river turtle that was thinking about diving into the water at any moment but was nice and let me take it's picture...
Now I am afraid it is time for me to get ready for work... have a wonderful Tuesday everyone!

Checking on the Beavers

The Beavers have really got their little oasis full with the rain we got last week. We did not see any Beaver tonight... they must have seen us first.
Cat tails
Beaver Lodge
Lily pads
There are two drainage pipes just below the strip of grey concrete in the center of this photo and the Beavers have filled them with mud and debris to create this pond. It won;t be long until the City is out to try to clear their dam out again.
Bullfrog... it was HUGE!
Back to work in the morning so I will say goodnight here. Take care everyone!

Another year nearly gone...

Hello to all those that have followed this blog for some time. I have not posted in quite awhile so thought I would pop over and write some...
