Marriage/Partnership!

I'm not sure where people get the idea that a marriage is a convenience of having someone else to do things for you. It seems that a lot of people enter into a marriage thinking of ways to "cover themselves" WHEN it doesn't work out anymore. Vows stated on ones wedding day should be "listened to" and not just spoken after all you are entering into a LIFETIME PARTNERSHIP! It's meant to be just that.... for a LIFETIME! Scott and I have been watching and listening to couples around us for years as they try to find ways to torment and abuse one another on their way to the divorce table. UGH! Everyday is not peace and harmony with us but we have learned to HELP each other through the rough patches and not sought out ways to pour salt in wounds or poke at issues until they become explosive. We tend to help each other through our days together... who ever is up first makes coffee, whoever cooks doesn't necessarily have to be the one that does the dishes, Listen - just listen when one is having a bad day and just needs to vent; coming up with ideas to help the other through difficult times or with projects that take more than one to complete. For us one completes the other.

Setting changes

I had to make some changes to my blog as I have had some comments left that were trouble makers that had to be dealt with and deleted. So comments from anonymous can't be posted anymore and I will be reviewing comments before they are posted.

DMV. baby gifts and Greg

Well I made it through the DMV experience... and I have the UGLY picture to prove it and what luck I get to look at it every time I open my wallet for the next 10 years! After I finished at the DMV I went to AC Moore and bought 2 One Pound yarns to make a baby hoodie for Lenora's new baby. And then I went to Hancock Fabric and lucked out and found several Care Bear prints on sale for 30% off so I can make her a small quilt as well. I also stopped at Jo-Ann's and bought the last on a bolt of rainbow flannel to back the quilt for just $3 a yard. I went ahead and bought two packs of lime green quilt binding for the quilt as well since they had 2 coupons in store that I could use at the same time - one 40% off and the other 50% off. I had thought about doing a little clothes shopping as well but changed my mind and just came home as Greg is having a bad day and needed Mom readily available to talk to. He is nearing the point of entry into the Navy and is having a bit of a hard time pulling things together. I told him I can't help him with it as he has to show that he is responsible enough to do it on his own or he will never live it down but that I would be here when he comes back home. I worry so about him but have faith that he will be all right eventually.

Back to the chill!

It's a bit chilly here this morning and the heat feels nice. I've got to go on my GRAND ADVENTURE to the DMV today. I think I will go out to Irmo to do it as that location seems to flow better and I don't want to spend my entire day off there. I have other things that I need to get done around here.

Tuesday evening!

Here it is tuesday evening and Tesla is letting us know that Tara is at the window... ready for "snack" - like he really needs a snack.

I'm off tomorrow and have to go and renew my driver's license - YUCK the DMV! Oh well at least a license is good for 10 years here in South Carolina. So it'll be awhile before I have to go again. I'm looking forward to sleeping in a bit in the morning. These past few 5 AM mornings have been ruff!Normally I am an early morning person but the days have been LONG as well as early.

Sports car quiz

I'm a Mazda Miata!

You like to soak up the sun, but your tastes are down to earth. Everyone thinks you're cute. Life is a winding road, and you like to take the curves in stride. Let other people compete in the rat race - you're just here to enjoy the ride.

OH! Of course we stopped!

We had to stop and walk around our own acreage while up that way. On the way through Columbia we were stopped at a light and saw these Robin's taking a bath in a puddle off in a yard.

And this is the 6 acres they have for sale

This 6 acres has a very interesting owner built dwelling of sorts. A wonderful creek running through it and a SCHOOL BUS of miscellaneous "treasure". It's VERY "off the beaten path" BUT located on a paved road of sorts amongst a hunt club or two. No real close neighbors and quiet.

Our friends have rural property for sale

These are pictures of the 2 acres our friend's have for sale. We bought our 10 acres from them about 3 years ago. The two acres has all ready been set up for living with well, power, and septic. It also has a nice sized metal barn.

Saturday! And I'm OFF!

YEAH! I'm home today and we are going on a grand adventure to get a motorcycle for it's engine so Scott can build a sawmill with it. I'll need to build my workshop close enough to Scott's or make sure the room I use as my hobby room in the little house we plan to build is facing his shop location so that I can monitor him - he does have a tendency of hurting himself when he is left unsupervised. Just search the archives of this blog for the fat thumb incident that required stitches.

White Truck wine

YUCK! We were given a bottle of White Truck Wine for Christmas and I just tried some tonight... YUCK! It taste's like it might have fermented in the back of an old white truck under a dying tree. AWFUL! Maybe Scott will finish this glass.... thats it! Scott will drink anything! EEWWWwwww!

Doctor and lunch

Well I'm going in to see the Dr today. Have some health concerns that need addressing and then I'm going to lunch with Amanda from Jo-Ann's. They are having their Inventory tomorrow; it's hard to believe it's been a year since I was experiencing that. I must say that the Inventory at Cracker Barrel was so much better. The crew I had in at CB were so much more efficient and professional and we did it at night when no guest were in the store. HUGE difference! Still stressful but not nearly like at Jo-Ann's.

After I get done with those errands I'm going to come home and work on some projects, do laundry and clean up the house a little. Maybe catch a nap this afternoon.

It's 39*F here this morning so Spring is not quite here yet. It's going to be REALLY strange having daylight savings time starting on the 9th of March. It's always so hard to go to sleep when it's still so light outside at 9 PM.

Christina turns ONE!

Sunday Scott and I went up to Gaffney SC to pop in at our niece, Christina's first birthday. We got some pictures of her with her Mom and Dad.

Tuesday Morning!

I can hardly believe that it is Tuesday all ready. Trash day! Scott got most everything to the curb I just need to do a quick swipe through the house to empty the smaller waste baskets and the liter box. I have to be to work at 10 this morning so I have a little time to do some cleaning before I head out. Tomorrow I am off and I need to spend the day sewing up a couple shirts that I can wear to work. I just can't seem to find things in the stores that I like or at a decent price. I'm looking forward to the day when I can return to homemaker comfy clothes - jeans/denim, sweats and funny t-shirts. OH WELL... one day.

I've been revisiting Deltec Homes and would still love to live in one but I'm torn as the cottage plans are so adorable and really all that we need. The Deltec home would be more stable in a hurricane type storm though. Perhaps I'll just start saving up the down payment to get them started on one and then go from there. We could always build the cottage as a place for company to stay. Thats the good thing about owning 10 acres... plenty of room to "play".

We have LOTS of garlic up in the garden so I will need to find plenty of ways to use it up - garlic pesto, stir fries, pasta dishes... I shouldn't have a problem. Scott also planted some sprouting potatoes and some peas so perhaps they will do well and we can do creamed peas and potatoes with Ham.... YUMMY! I'm thinking I woke up hungry this morning. Time for breakfast.

HELP!!!!!

I'm going to need MORE blocks to get a Queen sized quilt!

Other Valentine blocks

These are the other heart blocks that I have to use with the ones in the previous post. I made the water color heart block toward the center as well as the LOVE block. I also made up the small red heart blocks. Should be interesting as well as challenging. Next post will be ALL the blocks together - feel free to post suggestions in my comments section.

Valentine swap blocks!

My contribution to this swap is the block on the bottom. I'm going to use these along with some others from a previous swap to make a quilt for us to use in february next year.

Cosmic Catnip Kitty!

I SURVIVED !

We finished Inventory at 3 AM - I was home by 3:30 but couldn't get to sleep until nearly 5 AM. I got up about 9 AM and have decided to just stay up and get some chores done around here. I'm just SO GLAD to have that all behind me for another year!

Awesome Berry pictures - by SCOTT

Scott took these wonderful pictures in our front yard. He said he was crouching to take them and when he went to get up he toppled over. He just sat there awhile and Greg came up and talked with him but did not ask why he was sitting on the ground - clueless! THEN Scott said a Cayce police car drove up and slowed down staring - I guess someone called thinking Scott was stumbling around outside drunk and called them. I'm looking forward to moving out in the country.

Allergies or illness?

Not really sure whats going on this morning but I've been sneezing up a storm and it has Mr. Tesla worried. He keeps making the "Are you all right?" cat noise - quite funny sounding. I'm thinking that I'm having some allergy issues as yesterday was spent out in the storage trailer going through porch sale merchandise that has been stored out there awhile. Today is Inventory and I believe that we will have things pulled together before tonight. I'm going in earlier than I'm scheduled as I want everything to be ready... it'll make for a LONG day but it's got to be that way. Tomorrow the Inventory will be behind me and thats a good thing.

Vacation

OH IT WOULD BE SO LOVELY TO HAVE VACATION TIME! Or better yet RETIREMENT! Definitely retirement. I am growing weary of the lack of work ethics in the younger generation. And situational ethics - whatever we can get away with at the time is fine; instead of following policy is about to drive me crazy. I sent an email yesterday that I will most likely regret today as it will lead to a back lash of people mad at me and ripping me over the coals. I never know what I'm walking into from day to day and people that are supposed to be supporting me I am find are being less than that daily. I don't know who to trust as there is so many little insider games going on. I can't go to the GM with issues as he tells everyone about our conversations and then embellishes things to make himself look good and me look like the bully. I hate being made out the bad guy constantly and I hate being the one to enforce company policy after they've let the same things go on for a long period of time. I come off sounding like I'm making up the policies myself and that leads to employees talking about me behind my back and a work environment thats less than hospitable. AND INVENTORY IS TOMORROW! UGH! Perhaps this is all stress related to that but I don't believe that it is... it's COMPLETE FRUSTRATION! I guess as long as I am making money for the Company they'll be happy with me.

Valentine blocks

I finally completed 5 appliqué heart quilt blocks; one for me and one for each of the other 4 swap participants. I will use the blocks from this swap with other Valentine blocks I've received in a past swap to make a Valentine Sampler quilt. It will definitely be a one of a kind creation.

Eddie Mac Reunion

I found a picture of Scott and I that was taken at his ships reunion and thought I'd share. Scott's in the plaid shirt and I'm sitting next to him. It was an enjoyable weekend for us in Charleston awhile back.

Early Morning mish mash

I don't know whether to be glad that my brain works the way that it does or not. I keep a continual list going at all times in my brain of things that need doing. Some are work related, some home life/marriage and some are just deep thoughts that make me stop and question whether everything else on my list is worth while and important and have I prioritized things properly. Driving home last night with so many people flying by me doing what their life is directing them to do got me to thinking about the importance of items on my list. Like is really stressing over my job worth the energy that it wastes. Am I spending enough time with Scott and have I done well by Greg and will he be able to find direction in his own life so that I can worry less about him. Have I lost sight of the things that define me as a person or have I just realigned things that now define me. Or is it that as we age we forget to do the fun stuff as our energy supply becomes more limited as the demands of our jobs take over. I'm off today and tomorrow and the house is demanding a thorough cleaning; I have those projects that have to be completed and mailed today - I'll do those first. And then I have an ear ache that just won't quit; I'm hoping a decongestant will help in that department or I may have to fit a doctors appointment in today as well. Coffee is ready - life is good!

Spring? Winter?

Well it's turning cool again tonight; it's 46*F here right now and the temp seems to be dropping so I closed the window I had opened yesterday and have turned the heat back on for the evening. If my back gets cold at all I can barely move the next day. I'm thinking that I should go in for a thorough physical. I haven't been feeling very well and the spot on my left leg that stays sort of purple has gotten a little bigger and has begun to cause me some physical pain. I'm thinking I've crossed the line into full blown Diabetes and that it's affecting my health. I'll call the Dr tomorrow to set up an appointment. I dread it but feel it's something that I need to do and soon.

I'm off work the next two days and am looking forward to it.Lots of projects to get done; I'll post pictures tomorrow night.

Reversal Day

Today I've stayed in PJ's all day resting and doing little to prepare myself for a very late night of Inventory in Orangeburg. Watched a show most of the day between naps called Kingdom Hospital; Intriguing show but a bit creepy as well. Andrew McCarthy (Dr. Hook) is still adorable and his smile is AWESOME!

I cleaned the hall bathroom (Greg's bathroom) as it had reached DISGUSTING! Looks and smells tremendously better. Did a load of dishes and started another load of laundry. Folded about 4 baskets full of clothes that Scott had washed earlier in the week. Tomorrow I will be off as well and I plan to do some more cleaning and such after I get a little sleep. AH - work - clean- work- sleep.... I guess fun will slip in sometime.

Exhausted!

That is me this morning! Pure exhaustion! I NEED a couple days off to regroup and when I am off I plan to turn my phone off as well. Just today and tomorrow night to work and then I'll be off Wednesday, work Thursday and then off for Friday and Saturday. YEAH! Coffee is READY!

It's a little chilly in the house this morning but the temp reads 54*F outside so it will most likely get warmer than that as the day progresses. I need to go shopping for some lighter weight shirts soon as I have mostly sweaters right now. I also need to make some things as I've bought fabric to make tops with as well. It may be the only way to get things to fit me properly anyway. Time to get the show on the road!

I thought 12 to 13 hour days were behind me!

Thats what I worked today and I have to be back to the store at 8 due to the unexpected drop out of site of an employee I felt worthy of development. OH well! Back to square one - what is that saying - for every one step forward you have to jump back 2. I hope that this does not continue for long. Got to get to sleep now.

Up before 5

I've been awake since about 4:15 this morning. I was burning up - I think I'm running a fever. I'll take something and get a shower after a bit. Scott is sleeping well so I don't want to make a lot of noise back there right now. I did finish sorting laundry and put another load over to wash and got Greg's work pants in the dryer so he will have something to wear to work today. Laundry really piles up quickly around here.

We've been getting some much needed rain the last couple of evenings but I fear it's not nearly enough to make up for the dry Summers that we have had the past couple years. I fear people are loosing sight of how things grow and are destroying Nature so badly that it will never recover. Without clean water and fresh air plants can not flourish and produce food that we all need. It's like people have lost site of the fact that THEY require water and fresh air too. Scary thought so early in the morning - what will happen when the water is all gone and we are all struggling to stay alive in a desert.

Another year nearly gone...

Hello to all those that have followed this blog for some time. I have not posted in quite awhile so thought I would pop over and write some...
