Navy man

It's official... Greg is now a Sailor. He will be going into the Navy later this year. I'm proud and excited for him but I am also worried and concerned for his safety. He is my only child and I would be devastated if anything were to happen to him. He is in for 8 years; he'll be 30 years old when he finishes his obligation.

Our little garden patch

GARLIC, POTATOES AND PEAS!

Reason's why our sinuses are acting up.....

Minestrone

The house smells AWESOME! Minestrone is simmering away on the stove and filling the house with an amazing aroma. I wanted something ready for Greg when he comes home today. We have not heard from him yet today so I'm not certain of how things are going for him but hopefully he will get to stay home tonight.

Scott had been sleeping most of today; I think this trip really wiped him out. So I've been trying to do quiet task while he slept so that means I still have a good bit of cleaning left to do this afternoon. But thats ok' I'm glad he is home.

An end to March

It's looking like rain here today so it will be an indoor task day. I'm going to start with the laundry and cleaning. I'm so glad to be off today!

I never received the Invitation to Lenora's shower so either it was called off or they forgot to send me one. I will complete her gifts this afternoon and get them to her somehow. The little sweater is coming out so cute! I'm nearly finished with that and the hat and booties won't take long at all to complete. The quilt I may do the quilting on my sewing machine instead of by hand as that would be quicker. We'll see how fast I can pull this house together and get the sweater set finished first.

The medication must be working as I am feeling a bit better. At least I'm not swelling up quite so bad each day and my feet aren't absolutely killing me. On April 1rst I'm going to start back to walking everyday and try to shed off some of the weight I've gained since starting this new job.

HE HAS RETURNED!

Scott just got home! YEAH! I can sleep soundly tonight. Greg had to spend another night in the motel and he called to tell me the outlet at the motel fried his phone charger and that the ice machine didn't work. He was hoping for a good nights sleep tonight. He has only been gone 2 nights but is missing us badly - I'm not sure what he will do when it comes to 8 whole weeks away at basic training. We miss him too.

Getting in the Navy

Greg spent the night in a motel last night as part of his final admission requirements to get in the Navy. He will go through mental testing today. And he told me last night that he wasn't going to be able to eat dinner or breakfast as he can't weigh more than 201 pounds and they weighed him yesterday at 198. I'm wondering if they will put him on in this Sunday as that was the original date they had assigned him for entry. Scott gets back from TX tonight and we are both off tomorrow so hopefully we will get to spend some time with Greg before he leaves. It was strange being here alone last night; thats something that will take some getting used to.

Medications

Well I went to the Dr yesterday and have a URI/ Sinusitis; Venous insufficing; plantor fouins; LE edema; Dermitis... at least thats the best I can do at cyphering the Dr's handwriting. Basically I have too much fluid causing swelling and my veins are not closing properly in my left leg causing too much blood to stay in the lower part of my leg. He gave me some heavy duty Advil for the pain in my feet to take on a as needed basis. I'm on a medication to help relieve the fluid retention so I'm visiting the rest room more. And an antibiotic to clear up my sinus infection. I'll go in April for a thorough check-up. Geez... getting over 40 kinds stinks!

Corpus Christi

Well Scott left a little while ago and is driving to Charlotte NC to catch his flight to TX. I hope he has a safe and productive trip and that he leaves the illness(es) that the people he is going to visit have been saying is going around down there. I'm all ready dealing with this sinus thing; no need or desire to add anything new to the mix. I'm glad that I'm off today as I can catch a nap this afternoon. All I really have to do outside the house today is visit the Dr.

I've got laundry going all ready this morning and I think I'll go change out our bed to fresh linens and dust and vacuum in there this morning before I go to the Dr. I have a bunch of clothes to put away as well. Perhaps I will take some things to His House today; just getting rid of some clutter would be GREAT!

OK OK I give~!

I've made a dr appt for tomorrow about the strange spot on my left leg that swells and gets hot and to perhaps find out why my feet have been hurting so much as of late. And I'll get him to check my ears while there as I think I have a sinus infection. I rarely get sick but when I do it's always a doozy. Hopefully this will not be life threatening as I feel like I'm just coming into my own and I'm not ready to be finished.

Today I'm venturing out shopping with my Mother-in-law. Belks is having a HUGE sale and she wants to check it out and I figured it would be a way to spend some time with her so she won't feel so neglected. Besides - I need some clothes for work.

Laundry also has GOT to get done today as Scott is leaving for Corpus Christi TX tomorrow morning and he needs clean and freshly pressed items to wear. I hate that he is having to go there again; it means a supplier is not meeting the Companies expectations AGAIN! UGH! For the life of me I can't understand why people avoid doing the right thing and getting things done on time. Or simply doing what their bosses ask of them to make THEIR business successful. Yes it's hard getting out of our comfort zones but it's the only way to grow. Heck I have difficulty with it myself but I push pass the discomfort and get it done so that I can be successful. Ok... enough harping.

Happy Easter

Easter is here! I don't have any little children anymore - just nieces and nephews and I am hoping they all have a grand Easter. I may buy Greg some chocolate this afternoon on my way home - he may be 21 but he will always be my kiddo. ; } Gotta run and get this day started.

Easter Weekend

Tomorrow is Easter! I will be working until 4 tomorrow, today until 5. I'm looking forward to my next couple days off. Some REAL deep sleep would be nice.

Blowing the doors off!

That's what I've been doing for the past 2 days at work... sell sell sell! When I left today we were all ready OVER last year by more than $1300. Things are going so well I hate to say anything as I don't want to jinks myself. I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would become this successful - I JUST GOT TO BELIEVE!!!! I AM DOING IT!

Busy Weekend!

Yesterday was wild... the Retail truck didn't get there until close to 7:30 last night and then all my regular truck people were ill and out so I had to call in 2 gals that had never done truck before to get it in the building and then we were crazy busy with people traveling last night. Today promises to be another HUGE traveling day. I'm going in early to get the price changes completed and to finish getting the truck to the floor. I'll be glad for my days off on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Slept in this morning!

It's been a LONG time since I've slept until 9 AM but I needed it! When Scott kissed my head this morning he said I was running a fever; I wouldn't doubt that. Everyone at work is coming down with a respiratory bug; some are getting so severe to need to see a specialist. I believe shifting my schedule will be for the best all round - the business and me.

It's a bit cloudy this morning so we may see some rain today. I was hoping to take the pile of stuff we no longer want to His House today but it may have to wait for a sunny day now. Greg is wanting to go to a book store for some reason so we may do that this afternoon. I believe this morning I will do laundry and clean a bit. I'm expecting a call for the Corporate Office this morning and once thats behind me I will be able to go off somewhere with Greg. I've got an Employee Issue that needs their intermission.

Off to the laundry pile!

Head Cold & St Patrick's

I've awoke with a heavy head and sneezing. I'm glad that I am off and can get some rest today. In between naps I am planning to work on quilting projects.

Greg had a grand time in Five Points yesterday at the yearly St. Patrick's celebration. He said temptation was all around him but he didn't want to mess up his chance with getting in the Navy again. He was so excited that he got to video tape some of his favorite local bands. I was worried about him when we had a tremendous storm blow threw as it contained tornadoes and did some major damage. But he was safe and came home to us last night. Will I ever stop worrying - probably not.

Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day and I am thinking of sampling "things that are green". And it's also less than a week until Easter now... yikes! I hate when the Holiday's are set so close to one another.

LARGE AND IN CHARGE!

MR. TESLA surveying us and letting us know we are bothering him talking to one another.

Happy St Patrick's Day Weekend!

There is to be the big Five Point's bash today but it's looking like rain. Scott and I don't care much about it but Greg was planning to go down to it for awhile today. Green beer just doesn't do anything for me.

We are having corned beef and cabbage in the restaurant until St. Patrick's Day. I'm wondering how traffic will be this weekend for me on the retail side. I re-worked half the store yesterday so it looks GREAT! And all the new product is on the floor so the rest is up to my staff and the guests. I don't go in until later today which is good as the laundry and housekeeping fairy is MIA and this place NEEDS attention BAD!

I want to buy 2 really nice recliners and a new couch when we get the den painted and the new flooring down. Perhaps a nice coffee table as well and some new lamps. I'm just ready for a complete update as we haven't bought any new furniture in over 10 years. It's hard to believe that we have lived in this house for that long but we have. I've been thinking on the kitchen re-model as well and if we build in cabinets in the den like we planned and paint them a crisp white then I'm thinking the kitchen should be a nice crisp white as well to carry throughout the room since they flow into one another. I'll talk with Scott about it when he gets up this morning.

Signs of Spring around our yard

Our yard is coming back to life. It never got REAL cold this year so I fear bugs will be really bad this year but for now I am enjoying the flowers and fresh green leaves.

Laundry Fairy

Apparently the Laundry Fairy can only create laundry and not push any through the machines as of late. I am waiting on towels to dry so that I can get a shower and get ready for work. Thankfully I got up early enough to have time to wait.

Yesterday I stopped in at Jo-Ann's to pick up some fabric to finish the spring wall hanging that I am working on. I needed a couple REAL yellow FQ's to make a daffodil. They had gotten in some Debbie Mum cat fabrics so of course I had to have a half yard of each of those as well.

Today has to go smoother than yesterday - it just HAS TO! I got everything done that I needed to do but it was just under the wire all day!

Back to WORK!

Well it's back to work today for both Scott and I. Yesterday Scott sanded the den and the part of the kitchen he had all ready hung wall board in. UGH! DUST! We were up until after midnight cleaning up from the sanding and we still didn't get all of it up so I will have to dust some more when I get home this evening. While Scott was sanding I tackled the HUGE pile of laundry and it's still not 100% done and will need to be completed tonight. At least we all have clean clothes for today.

I made vegetable soup yesterday and we all enjoyed that immensely. I miss being able to cook all our meals sometimes. Scott is a pretty good cook too and we would both be so much healthier if we stuck to cooking things ourselves but after a day at work we are both so exhausted and ready to just eat and then sleep that there is little energy left for cooking and then cleaning up afterwards.

Birthday and Current Project

Today was my 44th birthday! UGH! I've been ill all day. Not sure whats causing me to have such a horrible stomach ache but I'm hoping it's a virus that will pass quickly.

We were without power for several hours this morning. The wind blew a dead pine tree down near the neighborhood pool and they had to get it off the line and then replace some of the line that had been broken.

Once the power came back on I got back to work on the wall hanging that I'm doing for a swap. I did nearly all the appliqué today as well as the yo-yo wheel on the wheelbarrow. I still have a daffodil to put in the remaining unadorned block along the top. I plan to do some bead work as well and may even add a few silk ribbon flowers to the inside of the wheelbarrow. I only have until the end of the month to get it in the mail to my swap partner. I think it's turning out quite nice so far. Sorry the pictures so dark; I'll post another after I've done a bit more work and it's daylight.

First signs of Spring

Scott and I walked around our front yard this morning finding all the flowers and new leaf buds that are coming out. I was pointing out things I want to move up to the property before we put the house on the market next Spring. We really need to do all moving before the heat of Summer arrives; like before the end of May. After we've moved what we want to keep we will fill the beds we've decided will remain with azalea bushes and just let the grass take over the beds that have never really developed well here. LOTS to do but today and tomorrow I want to play hookie from all work and chores and enjoy growing a full year older.

WIDE AWAKE

Well that was an interesting way to wake up this morning... my title came up half Hindi. I've turned the transliteration back off. It sounded like a good way to share my blog farther but I need to be able to read back over it myself and I can't read Hindi - pretty caricatures though.

I woke up thinking about Cycle Counts and I believe I reported short so I will need to email or call in my boo boo this morning. I think I forgot the items in the stockroom... UGH! I even counted them but I don't believe I added them to the ones I counted on the sales floor. I was in a rush to get them in but thats no excuse and they have to have accurate counts at corporate to know what to send us next. But it seems we count the same things every month... strange.

I work today and then I'm OFF tomorrow! Yeah! and then I'll work Thursday and then MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND will start! I'm looking forward to the Craft show Friday! I'm not sure about the Scots/Irish Festival as we've been talking about our endless Den project and how it REALLY needs to come to an end. So we may work on that Saturday instead. We've got sanding to do on sheet-rock and then we have to prime and paint walls. Next will be ripping out the kitchen and ordering new cabinets. Or we may finish the laundry room so I can move all my cleaning supplies out there in the cabinets we are planning to install. We have a LOT of projects in the works around here - maybe we should sit tight at home and get them done!

Weekend planning

Next weekend is my birthday weekend....
Friday the Spring Craft Festival at the state fair grounds
Saturday - the Scot/Irish Festival in Anderson, SC
I think I can talk Scott into it as Saturday night there is to be "whiskey" tasting. Perhaps we will meet other McAuley's there.
If we stay over in Anderson perhaps Sunday we could visit a waterfall or two.
Sounds like a wonderful birthday to me!

Busy Night

Last night I bussed a LOT of tables just to get people into eat so that they were not getting upset over the wait. I had Ginger in Retail so it worked out OK. Hopefully tonight I won't have to be doing that again. I'm exhausted!

Sounds like coffee is ready! YEAH! YUM!

I feel like I could be coming down with something but am hoping and praying that I am NOT! I took a Tylenol Flu last night as I had most of the symptoms listed on the box and boy did I sleep like a log. Kinda achy from that this morning. Luckily I don't have to be to work until 2 so perhaps it will have worn off by then and I won't feel do drug out.

We have English peas up in the garden and tons of garlic! A couple of the beds need reworking as the frames have disintegrated. All the beds really need to be amended with some peat moss and compost. And perhaps some lime and manure. We will need to plant squash and soon. If we don't plant it before the squash borer's arrival we won't get any for ourselves as they will riddle the plants and the fruits. We should have started tomatoes as well and peppers. Perhaps next weekend we can do that while I am off for my birthday. Friday Scott is taking off work and we are going to piddle the day away together; I'd like to go to the Carolina Spring Classic Craft Festival at the State Fair grounds. I'm not sure what else we will do but we will be together and thats what really matters.

Care Bear Quilt

These are the fabrics that I bought the other day at Hancock Fabrics to make a baby quilt for Lenora. They've all been pre-washed and now just need ironing and cutting into squares, rectangles and triangles. I have a pattern in mind all ready; I just need to draw it out on graph paper. I'll start on sewing it Wednesday when I am off. I've got to switch my schedule around a bit so that I can attend the shower on the 30th. I also bought yarn to crochet a hoodie for her. I got the pattern off http://www.jo-ann.com

We're back from the WALKIE!

Scott is definitely Amelia's favorite. What's ironic is we got her for me just before I started working at Jo-Ann's to give me a walking buddy and someone to keep me company when Scott was at work or out of town. Then I got that job and she became his pal when I was at work.

Let's go WALKIE!

Amelia is ready! All we have to say is, " Let's go for a walkie!" and she's all yeeps and running toward the door to get her leash on.

Another year nearly gone...

Hello to all those that have followed this blog for some time. I have not posted in quite awhile so thought I would pop over and write some...
