Garden and Cats

Just a few little beaded charms that I put together to swap with an online friend. I hope she liked them!

Howie and Tippy are the dynamic duo.... Howie sends Tippy into tight places that he can't fit when something gets away from him.

I LOVE the cheap and cheesy solar lights around the entrance at the cottage.

My little mixed garden is really showing out and I am so enjoying the happy little zinnias and the stunning glads.

NO crafting today Mom... It's all about HOWIE!

Last week I got  the front door painted and I really love how it turned out... only 3 more exterior doors to paint!

WOW... May is nearly over

Here it is the 26th of May already... POOF and it will be gone. I guess I need to catch up on here again. So much for daily blogging like I used to... really need to get back on the stick.

Ok where to start? I find if I check my camera I will find the prompts I need to write about every time. So lets go...

May 7th we were wrapping things up and I took a few photos to remember the work we had gotten done and to share that Greg has taken an interest in gardening and has planted nearly the entire garden in vegetables. So far he has peanuts and watermelon growing out there. I really miss the garden so very much. Now that I am home full time once again I could be out there every morning. AH well life has taken us on another path for now. Hopefully one day we will have a new home and a new garden to work.

Of course Bernadette was happy we had come down. Amelia and Bernadette always love a freshly mowed lawn.
Totally Random here... I found a punk wig for Greg's mannequin at a thrift store so she is no longer bald... for less than $2 .
On May 10th Scott and I took a walk along a portion of the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Travelers Rest. It is a GORGEOUS walkway and could easily be our replacement for our beloved Cayce Riverwalk up here. I am really hoping we can find a new home in Travelers Rest as it is so beautiful up there and that is where Scott father grew up. It holds a lot of special memories for Scott. The Real Estate is quite expensive up there though so we will see if we can fins something that we can afford that fits our needs/wants.

A ghost bike to remind people to watch for Cyclist.

Scott noticed this carving in the rock from 1935. Most of it was unreadable from weather ware.

Flowers from the wildflower garden along the walkway, Dianthus and daisy's both begin with "D".

May 11th - was our 32nd Wedding Anniversary and Scott surprised me with a dozen red roses.

Tippy just "chillin~" with Mom... he is quite the spoiled little wretch.

I guess I will close this post here as it is already quite photo heavy and I know that some folks have a hard time with lots of photos loading. I will write another post to finish out May next week. I hope everyone is having a lovely Spring on this side of the World and settling into Fall on the other.
Take care and love each other always.

Frustrations!

We've  been living between two homes for over a year now and I have reached a level of acceptance that it is going to be quite awhile longer. I am trying to focus on the daily happy things  that happen in our lives and pushing larger hopes and dreams to the way back of  my mind. I will just go with the flow as the level of anxiety was starting to creep into that dark zone that I never want to visit again. We will continue the work on our house and perhaps the housing market will recover better as right now we are in a buyers market to sell and a sellers market to buy and the housing prices are vastly different.

Things that make me happy...

An unexpected little rain shower that is helping the bulbs and seeds that I planted a few weeks ago grow. I am hoping to have a lovely little flower garden at the front of the cottage  that I can pick flowers for a bouquet on the table. In the picture to the left you can see the little ditch that I dug to keep my little flower garden from washing away.

My Crafting... I'm always happiest when I am creating.  I've really enjoyed this past weeks creative sessions and am looking forward to what the next couple weeks holds ... meeting some new card makers, sewing quilt blocks and perhaps some sewing of clothes for myself. Here are a few of the things I made this week...
And of course these 3 Cottage Kitties always make my heart happy...

WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!

I may have awoke at 4 AM but shortly after I had posted the message before this one I noticed that it was below 60*F and decided to open some windows. Then I sat in one of the recliners and slept a couple more hours of good restful sleep.

I made pancakes for my breakfast and didn't realize I had used the last of the syrup so I put the batter in the fridge and we will eat the rest as either dessert tonight or breakfast in the morning.

After Scott got up and made himself a sausage and eggs breakfast we decided to go for a walk by the river and then to the library and Aldi's. We went to the West Columbia Entrance today for something a little different. The flowers are trying very hard to put on one final big blast of color before the weather turns cooler. And of course I had to try to capture some of their essence....

The colors were all so rich and vibrant they absolutely GRABBED our attention and demanded their photos be taken.

Nature's Beauty surrounds us EVERY day!

There were quite a few Canadian Geese enjoying the morning. It was most enjoyable watching them bob for food and then fluff their feather. They were honking to one another and we wondered if they were going over what they were to do today.

This little fellow is a 5 lined skink and they are so beautiful. We have one that lives under and in our compost bin that is 8 to 10 inches long. They are great little bug hunters and I so enjoy seeing them.
This dragonfly caught Scott's eye because of it's coloring and I am glad that he pointed it our to me. Isn't it striking?

Of course the Gervais Street bridge is always "eye candy" for me and with today's blue sky and wispy clouds I had to take even more photos to share here.

Scott wanted me to take a couple picture's of our Capital City of Columbia from "our side" of the river so here they are... isn't the sky wonderful?

It really won't be long until the tree's have lost their leaves and we will have a clear view of Columbia.

After our walk along the river we stopped at the library so that Scott could try to get on the Department of the Navy's job website but apparently their site is down. While he was doing that I decided to just look through books and came home with a small stack to enjoy the next few weeks. I'll share more on them later.  We then went to Aldi's for syrup and ended up about filling the cart with more groceries - I shop better alone! We will use everything we bought and the prices were unbeatable.

And to round this day out I made a spicy vegetable soup and Scott made corn bread for our supper. It was DELICIOUS!

July 2024.... really?

Here it is another year since I have written on this blog. Since I found You Tube and started doing videos over there this blog has become ...
