Explosion Box

I thought some of you would like to see how one of these works. Here is the You Tube video I made about the box and  the tag ornament I completed last night.

CHRISTMAS in July

Yes! I am working on some Christmas projects this week; which means my dining room table is M.I.A! LOL I've made another explosion box and you can see it "in process" at the right front of this picture.
Explosion box as it looks when opened. The gold flowers on the table were made and painted by ME and will be placed on top of the box.

I am making this one for an on-line crafter to hold an ornament that I made for her as well. Here is the ornament...
And with this Christmas crafting I got to thinking about something and thought I would ask you all if any of you would like to do a swap for a handmade ornament? It wouldn't have to be anything too fancy and could be made in any medium that you like to work in. This is just a thought...  let me know?

BARNS!!! In the Mountains!

Who could resist stopping and taking photos... NOT US!!!

OK... this is not a barn but an old Drive-In NEXT to a barn!

Blue Ridge Mountains trip - part 2

Saturday started with clouds and rain - could barely see the mountains.

But it started to clear off as we prepared to leave for the HAMfest.

One of the Housekeepers children playing with the stray cat that lived by the dumpster.

At one point in driving around we had to turn around and ended up next to some "Test Gardens' - no body was there to ask about it so we just took photos.

Scott and "The Boys' - Metal sculptures in Waynesville, NC.

Me with "The Boys"

A most impressive carved doorway.

Copper Fox

We ate Beef Brisket here for lunch with jalapeño and cheesy grits, slaw and cornbread.
Candy Bins inside Mast General Store - sold by the pound and you can mix and match.

The Doggy Bakery!

Main Street Waynesville, North Carolina

OF COURSE I HAD TO GO IN HERE!

Got some wonderful ideas!

This shop had lots of funny mats!

Saturday nights dinner was at Sagebrush - I had Shrimp Quesadieas and Scott had  Fish.

I just couldn't get enough of the mountains.

Our Final sunset from our room Saturday night.

Blue Ridge Mountains Part 1

Friday after Scott got home from work he and I jumped in our car and headed for the Blue Ridge Mountains. I just love when you are driving along and the mountains appear on the horizon. It's like they are saying "Welcome". It is a view that always makes my heart sing. We arrived just before sunset which was really good as the roads are labeled so weird and the lane shifts are a bit odd up here.

View from our room at the Super 8

Our Room - not the most glamorous but adequate.
We drove into downtown Waynesville that night and they were having a street dance and we were tired so we decided to avoid the crowd and noise and opted for a nice quiet meal at Angelos. The food was delicious!

Our first mountain sunset.
GOOD NIGHT on Day 1.. I'll write a part and three once we get back home.

Good Friday Morning!!!

I'm taking the day off to get the house clean, laundry done and us packed for a small weekend adventure. Greg will be here looking after the pets and trying not to burn the house down cooking. I am just hoping I don't arrive home to a filthy kitchen...  he'll clean a kitchen up for a girlfriend but leave ours a wreck. UGH!

Scott and I will be attending a HAM Meet in Waynesville, NC and doing some exploring of the mountains. I'm looking forward to seeing those blue mountains once more. Everyone else can go to the beach in the Summer and roast... I'll take a cool mountain stream over that any day. We are hoping to explore some Goodwill stores there as well... looking for treasure.

Last Saturday we took a walk at dusk down by the River and I caught some wonderful shots of the moon. If the moon had not been so bright that night we would have had trouble getting back to the car as a good portion of the lights along the walkway are out because of the recent flooding.

At the start of our walk - the moon over the  Quarry.

We thoroughly enjoyed our moonlit walk together.
