Unexpected Evening....

Plans changed for this afternoon/evening as when I arrived home the City had the water line dug up down the street. We've had low water pressure for about 4 or 5 days and were wondering what was going on. The workers told Scott that they had a hard time finding the break in the line as it was right next to the storm drain so there was no visible sign of where the break had occured. We now have pressure again but have to boil water for 5 minutes before using it for drinking and cooking. FUN! The plus side was a nice high pressure shower this evening. OH and Scott and I went to La Fiesta for dinner.

The plants are still surviving that we put out on Sunday. Perhaps I will get to work on it some more this weekend. Time for bed now.... OH I did get the sun-dress pattern cut out for me. So tomorrow I could lay out fabric to make myself some dresses. I think if I fold everything right I can cut 3 out at once and sew them together rather quickly was there are just 5 pieces to the dress. Good Night!

BIG HAIR MORNING!

WOW! My hair is large and in charge this morning but thankfully I can deal with it a little better this morning as my scalp isn't hurting quite so bad from being fried on Sunday. Today is a short day for me so I may come home and pull weeds and prepare a couple spots for the new frames to go into the garden. Then when Scott gets home we can set them into place and fill them with compost; we may have to buy dirt - a concept that I still have a lot of trouble with but these are deeper than the ones we had in the past.

I would also like to get some things cut out to sew as well. Whatever I do I will post pictures of my progress tonight. Right now I have to get ready for work.

Garlic harvest!

Scott harvested a "little" garlic this evening....

Sleepy Tuesday Morning

I've got to get awake to go to work soon... head feels like it is in a fog this morning. I think I needed at least another 4 hours of sleep; perhaps I will go to bed as soon as I get home tonight.

So much to get done this week here and at work. I have to get the rest of the plants that we purchased at Lowes planted before they die on us. It's 9 tomato plants and I believe 5 pepper plants. I think I will go ahead and put them in the other bed that we have prepared at the top of the garden. Once we get the 4 new beds installed we will be able to grow all sorts of yummy vegetables. The birds thoroughly enjoy visiting our garden when we are out there digging up bugs and pulling weeds - it's like an all you can eat buffet for them when we come back indoors.

Scott has just 3 more days at Bose and then we will see where the future takes us. He is working on his resume and reading all he can on resume writing and job searching. He also has lots of projects in mind for around this house.

I guess I better get going it's nearly time for me to leave for work.

After a trip to Lowes....

Yesterday we worked our tails off in the backyard. I put in a new flower bed by the back gate and together we built 4 new raised beds for the vegetable garden. I AM BURNT! To say the least but am excited about the garden progress. Now to clean out the weeds so we can set the new beds over into the garden. But for today it's back to work.

Yard of the month?... NOT!

But it does have beautiful flowers here and there and holds promise of being something more... wish I had days to work on it like I used to.

Handsome Guy in Camo

Scott snapped this photo of Greg the morning he had to report to his Reserve Duty Unit.

RUFF NIGHT

OK... so maybe working so much is starting to affect my health a bit. I'm having issues with my bladder that are not pleasant and I ran out of my diabetic medication and never heard back from the DR's office yesterday. I will call the Pharmacy when they open to see if it was called in... I sure hope that it was. I don't have to be into work until 1:30 today and then tomorrow I am off and I'm TAKING THE ENTIRE DAY OFF!!!! GOTTA!

OK... I went and have 2 new prescriptions and have to see the DR for a thorough check-up before another month is up. FUN!

Thankful for a morning at home!

I'm home until 1:30 today; which is good as I have a BUNCH of laundry and housework waiting for me. Isn't it amazing how that always happens... get some time off and work is waiting.

Greg was up and gone when I got up this morning; hopefully this means he is starting to look for a job. I know that it isn't going to be easy for him to find something but he has to try; he needs something to fill his time until he is called to Duty.

The weather has changed the past few days and it has been getting quite warm by the afternoons which really heats my store up. The sun just glares through the front windows by 4:30.

Yesterday I worked on one section of fabric and got it to the height that it needs to be and re-draped it all to the correct length. Only about another 30 sections to do to get it all "perfect".

Adjusting to life's changes

I gotta get going but wanted to post a bit before I hit the shower. Greg is adjusting to life at home and we are adjusting to having him back home. It really is different around here since he came back. Not bad just different. People that haven't had children of their own or raised any children that they've watched grow from a baby to an adult have no concept of how hard this transition is for the parents. I've had stages of this feeling throughout Greg's life but this has to be one of the hardest transitions for me. He really has grown into a fine young man.

Awoke to Pouring rain

The rain was just pouring down when I got up this morning. I'm wishing I could just stay home for the day but Monday's are Jam packed at work so it's hard for me to take them off. Yesterday I went in and worked 4 hours and then came home and slept the afternoon away, I needed the rest. I also got about half the laundry done. So much to do and never enough hours in the day or the energy to do it all.

Sunday Morning - early morning!

Since I was late getting to work yesterday because of the fiasco that started at midnight I'm up early today. I'm only going in for 4 hours this morning and then coming home to housework here - it's work no matter where I am but here I can wear anything I want and take a nap if the mood strikes me.

It's that time of year when it's chilly in the morning and the use of the space heater to take the chill off is welcome. Then later in the day it will be in the 70's or 80's... crazy!

I have pigeons nesting in the front A/C at the store and the guy said that he would have to put a quote in as the labor is intensive to fix the problem and that it would take half a day to complete the job. So until that is done there is a chance that poo may fall from the front vent by register 1. UGH!

I bought some more fabric for another sun-dress - I'm wanting to work on some of these this afternoon as I need the clothes and I'm just on a sun-dress kick these days. Something loose fitting after being confined in work clothes day after day will be so nice.

What a day!

Today was a day I do NOT want to repeat anytime soon. Started at 12 AM with a text message from my 7 AM opener that she wasn't going to make it in and then I woke up late as I turned my phone off as she wouldn't stop texting me and I needed some sleep to go open. Got there an hour late and had to call someone else in to cover for her and then we had a pretty good sales day so we were extremely busy. Tomorrow our week long SUPER sale starts and we had so much that needed to be done in preparation for that. We are hoping to have a ROCKING WEEK in sales!

Greg and Scott have been working on Greg's desk so that we can get his computer set up in his room and perhaps get the rest of his things moved in there this weekend so that our front room can start being used to house cabinets for the kitchen as Scott gets them built.

We are going over to Scott's Moms' for a bite to eat and then Greg and I are going to see the new Fast and the Furious movie together. It will be nice to spend a little time with him.

GREG PASSED!!! WITH A 90 on his FINAL!

It took two tries but he made a 90 on his final block test. He had a stomach bug during his first attempt so he wasn't able to concentrate. YEAH! He is coming home tomorrow - I got his bed in his room with new bedding on it so it is ready for him to flop in as soon as he gets home. He has to report into his duty station on Thursday morning. HE IS COMING HOME!!!!!! And the cats are waiting as anxiously as I am!

GGGRRRRRrr can't sleep

I'm up EARLY! Just couldn't sleep for some reason. I've read email and checked in on a few of the blogs that I read nearly daily. Perused some crocheting websites and am just trying to stay quiet so that Scott can at least get some rest. I am off today but have a conference call at 9:30 and I also have to get our taxes done today. And I also need to get some house cleaning and laundry done today - fun! AND I need to at least get Greg's bed put back together in his room. He ran into a bit of difficulty and has to retake his final block test today. I am hoping and praying that he passes today so that he can still come home tomorrow.

Curtains

I made some very basic curtain panels to cover the windows in Greg's room; I have plans to make some valances to also hang in his room that will have a yellow gold trim along the bottom edge. For now at least the windows have coverings so that Greg can have privacy and can sleep late if he wants to.

Our Fishing Adventure

All we caught was a beautiful day and time together relaxing but it was fun and something we both needed badly. I caught Scott on camera several times but he didn't catch me so you only get to see one of us relaxed and some relaxing views to enjoy. We were sitting on the old river locks near the damn section of the Congaree River. It was such a lovely sunny day. Then last night it absolutely poured with high winds, thunder and lightening.

Braided Rug

Today only Annie's Attic FREE to print pattern is for a Braided Rug. I've printed it off as it is something that I would like to make. They would be GREAT in our cabin - in the future. I made the title of this post a link to the pattern - you only have until midnight to print it off as they change the pattern out each night.

Scott is Lining up our Adenture for tomorrow...

Scott has decided that we REALLY need to go fishing so he is fixing up poles with the appropriate line and set up so that we can go fishing tomorrow. He also bought a dozen Herring that he has in a minnow cooler that is VERY interesting to the cats. Perhaps we will drag the little camera along to catch pictures of each other through out the day that I can share with everyone that reads our blog.

I'm ready for a nice nights sleep and will be taking a Benadryl to deal with the wicked allergies... love flowers - hate pollen. But it's a necessary evil because without one we wouldn't have the other to enjoy.

Update on Son

Well Greg got his orders last night and will be home just 17 days and then he will be off to Combat Training. After that we aren't sure; he has heard rumors that he may be sent to Alaska. I guess we will wait and see. He will be home Wednesday or Thursday next week and I'm just so looking forward to seeing him again.

Something in the air

There just has to be something in the air - children are more cranky and full of temper-tantrums. Adults are grouchy, impatient and short tempered. And some have been down right rude and mean hearted - time for me to have a day off to recover so I can deal with them better. I sent myself home early today for an attitude adjustment. Scott and I went to the Tea Pot for dinner and it was delicious and filling and we have enough for our lunches tomorrow. http://teapot-columbia.com/menu.html I had the Sesame Shrimp - yummy!

The wind has blown hard all day today. I let Amelia come in the house to get out of the wind for a little while. She is just happy to be indoors with her pack - except for the mean one - Mr. Tesla. He likes to pin her under the kitchen table and bite and scratch her.

I got in a Crochet! magazine and a McCalls Quilting and I think I'm going to go read through them and enjoy all the beautiful pictures as well.

Do you feel like knitting a dishcloth?

The title is a link to a BUNCH of knitted dishcloth patterns.

Sunday Morning Reflection

I don't know what it is about Sunday mornings that makes me think back to my childhood but each Sunday I awake with a thought about my Grandma. When I opened my blog page this morning and looked at yesterdays pictures once again it made me think of her hurrying to feed chickens and pigs and water her flowers in the greenhouse before we left for church. Sometimes we would walk over the hill to the little country church that I attended as a child and have the best conversations in the world. We would see the wild life and view the flowers that nature gave to us to appreciate. Perhaps that is why I appreciate the little things in life so much more than material things. I long for those special times to the point some days my heart aches for the memories.

GOOD GRIEF IT'S FRIDAY!

Thank goodness!... another six days and I'll get a day off. At that point I'm REALLY going to need it. I'm so tired tonight and am looking forward to a nice hot bath perhaps in candle light - something nice and soothing.

The 2 cats are trying their best to be obnoxious. They act like that haven't been fed at all today... the piggies. Neither appears to be starving but they sure can make it sound like they are with all the little talking noises that they make.

Scott fixed some spaghetti noodles to go with the marinara sauce that I put together before I left for work this afternoon and it was so nice to have food waiting for me when I got here tonight.

Back at the job at 7 AM - it's 20% off family and friends weekend and boy are thry shopping hard! I had an excellent day today, beat last year by nearly $2000. Not bad for the new kid on the block I guess.

Another year nearly gone...

Hello to all those that have followed this blog for some time. I have not posted in quite awhile so thought I would pop over and write some...
