Only 3 more days....

I'm really looking forward to the weekend! I hate when we get "visitors" as the air becomes filled with anxiety and stress and it really affects my well being. I was scheduled 4 hours a day... same shift and now it's all switched around and lengthened. I guess it's good I don't really have much of a life outside work. BUT I do so enjoy my home time and hate to have it derailed as much as I would hate to change plans with a friend because of work. At the moment the "schedule" really means nothing.

Well enough of my frustrated pitty party...

The sun has returned after LOTS of rain and I'm so enjoying watching the birds coming to our feeders each day. I've been able to watch them all morning this morning as my schedule was changed to mid-day. We have SO many cardinals and they look like ornaments on the trees. They really are a lot of fun to watch.

Garden Update

GARLIC!!!
Just thought I would share some pictures of our garden I took the other day when Scott went out to plant some potatoes that had sprouted in the bin.

MORE GARLIC!

I love how the rain drops look like pearls on the collard greens

YEAH!!! It's Friday!~

Bloom Uniquely
This afternoon I decided to do a page in my Art journal and this is what I created. I started off thinking I'd do something very colorful and geometrical but then things decided to go organic. I really love how this page turned out.

Scott and I went out to dinner at La Fiesta and then stopped at Reid's for a few groceries. We don't normally shop there but all we needed was milk and bread. There was an accident on the main road to the Bi-Lo we shop at on a regular basis so we decided to brave Reid's this time.

I think we are going to call it a day shortly and make it an early bedtime. It's just now 7:30 PM and Scott and I can barely keep our eyes open. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

So Glad it's Friday!

I'm just so glad the weekend has arrived. We have a birthday party to attend on Sunday and I have so much to get caught up on around here at home. I'll have to shove it all into today and tomorrow. Plus I need to do our grocery shopping... something that is not as thrilling as it once was. Ah well... we have to eat.

We went to Kmart the other night to get a few things for our niece, Abby for her birthday. And while we were there we discovered they carry Burpees seeds so we bought some to get our garden started... tomatoes (Heirloom - Rutgers and Sandwich Slicer Hybrid_, peppers ( Chinese Giant Sweet peppers and California Wonder), squash (Early Golden Crookneck), Okra ( Clemson Spineless),Cucumber ( Straight Eight), Garden Bean ( Triumphe De Farcy), and for some color Hollyhocks (Fordhook Charter's Doubles Mix).  I'm looking forward to a nice garden this year.

Gotta get ready for work now... woke up late this morning.

Creative Lettering Prompt

This is the two pages I did yesterday in my Art Journal; the weekly prompt from my friend was "Lettering". Choose a theme and write some words out in different lettering styles and this is what I came up with.

Tuesday ... Yep thats what it is.

Well it's nearly 4 AM and I will need to get dressed and ready for work SOON but I thought I would at least start a blog post for today and perhaps save it  and add more after I get home. I am truly hoping for the 4 hour shift that I am scheduled to work today as I have a lot I want to get done around here.

My Hobby focus as of late has been the Art Journal... as if you couldn't tell. Each day I look at it and feel an unyielding desire to add yet another page to it. This is the page I did yesterday...
This one has some real texture to it and the flowers hang off the page a little for added interest. I can't decided if I like this one or not but it's what came to me yesterday.

I need to switch focus though and get a bit of sewing done this week. More on that after I get home from work.

10:45 AM - Well I am home from work and I decided that my page needed a little "more". I'll add a picture once it has had time to dry. This rainy weather makes me so sleepy and it makes the birds outdoors hungry. The sunflower seed feeders are empty and they are doing their best to empty the suet  cages as well. I am planning to buy some sunflower seeds next weekend to refill the feeders. It really won't be much longer until I stop feeding the birds as I don't feed them in the Summer and early Fall as there is plenty of food available in the wild at that time. And they need to teach their young how to forage on plants and bugs anyway.

Finished....
I need to look through my patterns and pull a few out to start working on a new Summer wardrobe or at the very least 4 to 6 new outfits for Spring and Summer as I have few clothes and I dislike the price and fit of whats available on the sales racks these days. I've never been too keen on shopping for clothes except in my late teens and early 20's and then it was never crazy extravagant. I've never been one to "put on the dog" on a regular basis. I always figure that those that love me for me are the people I want in my life... not those that are critical of what I am wearing. I'm an original me - take it or leave it. I'll write more about the wardrobe progress as things happen.

Creativity Keeps Flowing

Just getting some stuff down on paper that I didn't want in my mind anymore.
I love black and white with a splash of red.

CRAFTY Saturday at home

I also got a little crafting done today. I altered one of the little wooden boxes that you can buy at the Dollar Tree. I used some glass pebbles for feet after I painted it green; then applied crackle medium and some white paint. The white roses on top are the ones that I made the other day and the pink ones are from a Zibbet shop called Craft Supplies1. On the top I applied a lace heart that I've had in my stash for YEARS and on top of it I added some small pearl strand. I also cut small lengths of the pearl strand to stick in amongst the flowers. And around the lid I applied some white gimp trim.

I lined the inside of the box with some wool felt and added the last of the white roses that I had made the other day and a few more of the pink roses as well. OH! The butterfly's were sent to me by a sweet gal in Puerto Rico and they are made of velvet. Thank You Evy!

This will be set aside and given as a gift later this year.

FOODY SATURDAY at home...

Collard Greens picked from our garden before breakfast.

Terriyaki pork tenderloin, collard greens and corn on the cob with butter.

Paper Roses

I made these roses with white card stock yesterday. With a little more practice I think they will look GREAT! I have more waiting to be made into roses tomorrow after I get home from work.

Today I also created the "What is Love?" page in my Art Journal and this is the result...
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
For Flower Lady and anyone else that wants to learn how to make the paper roses....

Art Journal Page

Prompt from friend was "Secret Sanctuary"
I've just completed this page in my Art Journal. I also made some paper roses but I am waiting for them to dry so that I can move them onto a dark background as they are white roses sitting in a white bowl and the camera looses it's mind when I try to take a picture with white on white. They turned out pretty good but I need more practice to be sure.

Back to the Art Journal page; a cabin in the woods would be a delightful Sanctuary for me. This prompt was actually given for last week so tomorrow I will work on this weeks page prompt which is "What is Love?". And how fitting will it be that I am creating that page on Valentines Day?

Tulip Magnolia

When I arrived home this morning I saw that this tulip magnolia has begun to bloom and I should have gone out and took a picture right then but I was too tired. After a nice nap I went out and took a photo even though we have another storm moving into the area. For me this is always a sign that Spring has arrived... and UGH! SO EARLY! Which means a HOT Summer with LOTS of bugs!

Our Yesterday through Scott's lens...

BUT WAIT... the fun didn't stop in Denmark!

I noticed some sign's for a National Historic site and we decided to check it out.
An Old Sinclair Gas Station
Battle of Rivers Bridge - I tried to get photos of the plaques but the sun didn't always cooperate. You can see where the Confederates were dug in and where the Union Army came up and around them.

Another year nearly gone...

Hello to all those that have followed this blog for some time. I have not posted in quite awhile so thought I would pop over and write some...
