Another card

These cards are a lot of fun to make. I'm thinking I should start making my Christmas cards now so that I will have one for everyone I want to send them to this year.

The fire is still burning at the Recycling plant and they have the Airports foam truck out there trying to get it under control. The Extension that runs past it is closed today and I feel so bad for those Firemen out there battling that fire in this 108*F heat. What a mess!

We've been staying in the house as much as possible. I did go to the Post Office to mail the two cards out and I stopped at Jo-Ann's to see what they had left in their Clearance as today was the last day for their 50% the clearance price sale. I spent $12.06 for a full bag of goodies.
The yarn was only 48 CENTS a skein! I couldn't believe it and some of the buttons were just 12 cents a card... absolutely wonderful deals. The fabric bundle was only $3.48 and I loved how Retro it looked. When I got home and opened it I was even more thrilled.. it's 6 pieces measuring 18"x 21". I'm going to make a really neat tote or two with this fabric. And the scraps left over will make some AWESOME potholders. Don't you think?

Card Completed and fire

First I completed the card that I started yesterday and I made a short video showing it's details...

We had some not so nice excitement today with a fire at the Recycling Plant not far from our house. Here is a link to a Local Stations photos... WLTX . The air quality is awful and it didn't help a bit that it got up to 108*F here today; I felt so bad for those Firemen. We drove by a little while ago just after 9 PM and they were still hosing it down. It's a real mess.

Is it Friday Yet?

Card in process
This has just been one of those weeks when I've been wishing for Friday. Scott went to the Doctor today; poor guy has a sinus infection and to speed his healing along they gave him a shot in the bum so now he feels bad with a sore cheek. We both took nice naps once all the prescription running around was taken care of and have had dinner so now it's just time to relax before we go to bed for the evening. I've started working on a card to send to someone to add a bit of cheer to her mailbox. I'm really enjoying the card crafting and paper craft projects. It's truly amazing what can be made of paper.

Just wanted to let everyone know that next week may be quite light on posts as I am working some bizarre hours as we are completely shifting the lay out of the center of the store with entire aisles changing places... gonna be CRAZY! But when we are done the whole new look will be amazing. I will be exhausted but it will be from good honest work.

This weekend we are expecting temps in the 100's (*F) - so not looking forward to those temperatures. When they start getting up that high I wish to be on the other side of the World where it is "winter"... we can't always have everything "perfect". We've had a really mild Spring/Summer so far so it was inevitable that the REAL heat would arrive with July.

Scott and I spied our first pumpkin! It is on the vine that I started from seed. Greg's plants are growing like crazy and I fear that they will take over the entire garden and half the back yard but we are going to let them "grow". Should be interesting he informed us that they are a mixture of winter squash, melons AND pumpkins so we will see what we get. We also spied some tomatoes on our vines and are so glad they are going to produce this year. Mulching makes a WORLD of a difference that is for sure.

With Scott recovering and the heat we will most likely stick close to home and indoors. He needs to rest to recover and I need to rest to prepare for next weeks EARLIER starts - have to be to work at 4 AM.... let the FUN begin.

It's Official....

I need my head examined! I worked 5 am to 9:30 - did a minor reset in Artist Paints and then helped unload a 1000-ish piece truck. Came home and mowed the front yard and trimmed on some of the trees and bushes and then my brain said... STOP! YOU IDIOT! It's getting hot and you're exhausted.... SO here I sit listening to my body after a much needed shower. How DOES that black dirt work it's way into your shoes and turn your toes black? LOL My sneakers are also getting a washing. I will have to do better at taking little steps - it's NOT my Nature though. I'm so go until it's done on physical projects and then  pay for it later. Got to remember I'm NOT in my 20's anymore.

I'm expecting overseas packages but none have arrived - I'm wondering if Customs is backed WAY UP or something. I never received an apron sent from England MONTHS ago and now I am waiting for a package from South Africa. I sincerely hope they aren't lost... or if they are I hope they get found and sent on to me!

I did get some delightful "Nickel's" yesterday from Mary Lou. Aren't they cute?
I'm thinking these with the animals would make a fun little "Eye Spy" quilt for a baby. I don't know anyone having a baby at the moment but I could put it up for "someday".... hmmmmm... handcrafts for "someday".

I'm going to work on needle cases now and try to skip a nap as I did not sleep well last night. We have 3 windows in our bedroom and it felt like the neighbor's lights were pointing straight in there last night from their porch lights being left on. I have added some additional coverings and have plans to make some HEAVY light blocking curtains for in there as well. I don't know why I am so sensitive to light now when I try to sleep... it is very annoying.

A project finish and just daily "stuff"

First I want to share this photo of a little paper purse that I just completed. The purse is made out of paper and the attachments and decorations are made of paper, plastic and metal. I absolutely LOVE IT! This little purse would make an extra special gift card holder or just a special way to wrap up something sweet for a friend. The flap is held closed with a small bit of stick on velcro and the bag is fully lined.

After work today - which by the way did NOT contain a section that just needed a little clean up and "finessing" but a COMPLETE tear down and rebuild. I got it done and it looks real nice but I'm never going to believe them again. ANY HOW... I had a nice lunch with Robin (sister) and her 2 kiddos (Gwen and Drake) at Atlanta Bread Company. I had a half turkey and bacon sandwich and an antipasto salad; diet lemonade and then an ABSOLUTELY sinful dessert that probably ran my sugar level straight to the moon but I deserved it after that "easy" reset. I think it was called "Snicker's Cheesecake"... talk about decadent.

I took a nice hour long nap once I got home and now Scott is taking a nap as well... it's become a regular thing for us to get an afternoon nap. Does this mean we've reached "OLD"?

The card I made

I made the ribbon flowers on this card as well as the bead sprays. I think it turned out quite lovely.

Quiet Sunday Morning

I've been awake for about 2 hours and Scott is still asleep so I've been keeping myself busy watching You Tube videos and making some ribbon roses for a "ribbon challenge" on Charming Custom Crafts Facebook  page. I'm going to make a card using these roses that I've made. I'll post a photo of the card once I complete it.

Yesterday we went back to our friends farm and helped them get their hay in... over 1000 bales. We were all exhausted by the time we finished but it was work well done and the hay is safe in the barns. We walked along and picked up bales of hay and put them on this trailer... hot and sweaty work. But it's so beautiful out there I LOVED IT! Scott enjoyed the work as well; I got THE BEST photo of him smiling...
My Sweetie!
And the sunset over the pond was GORGEOUS!

Haying

Scott took these photos last evening while we were at a friends helping them get their hay in from this 30 acre field. We will be going back to help them again today. It's so beautiful out there and we so enjoy our time with them.

Scott caught me!

Glorious Morning

I've been able to sit here at my desk and watch the sun come up this morning and even turned the A/C off so I could open the front door and listen to the birds starting their day.

Today I am going to help some friends in their hay field; something I haven't done in years but I fling freight at work so I'm used to the physical labor. My only concern is getting enough to drink and I plan to pick up a bag of ice and some water and Gatorade to have in a cooler. And some fruit for a snack so I don't have a drop in blood sugar while working.

The other day I mailed the little box of handmade items off to it's winner in the UK (Congrats again Lou) and I got an estimate on the postage for the larger package to go to South Africa - gotta save my money for that one.

I've made a little progress on the beaded needle-case but need to get busy as I have 4 to make and I don't want the "swappees" to think I've forgotten them. I will work on this one some more this morning. It's not perfect but I think it is still turning out quite pretty. I will switch colors around on each one so they are all a bit different.
While Scott and I were at work Greg snapped this picture of this huge lizard on the side of our house. I wish he'd gotten a little closer up but I'm sure the thing would have took off if he had. I think it is a Broad Headed Skink but I can't be sure.

I better get my day started.

A dozen Random Photos from my desktop...

Thought I'd write a quick post before I go to bed (I took a LATE nap and am now wired for sound).
