Abby's little reversible dress....

Here is my little niece Abby in one of the reversible jumpers that I made for her. Isn't she a cutie?!
And her Mom and baby brother Phoenix as well.

GREG GOT TO CALL!

Greg finally earned a call home and I was at work and could not touch my phone so he had to leave me a message - I can listen to it over and over. LOL! Greg was able to reach his Dad though and they had about a 15 minute chat. Scott said Greg sounded good and is looking forward to PIR - Graduation. We are trying to pull things together to go. I'll need a couple new tires and the Antifreeze will need to be swapped out. And we will need to save up a bit of cash for gas and motel and eating. He was so happy to hear our voices even if mine was just on my answering service that he was all choked up. It was such a relief to hear his voice even for just a few minutes.

Poking Around the Web and FOUND Greg Again!

KIDS.... Don't they realize we were all young once as well! It kills me when I come across some party picture of him that some girl has taken and posted to the web. LOL This one was taken sometime around his birthday in August.

Monday Morning - Back to work for Scott!

Scott is about to leave for work and I am off today. So it'll be housework and laundry and a few errands for me. I've been up since 4:30 this morning; this is the second morning in a row that I've awakened with an uneasy feeling. I hope that Greg is all right. Hopefully he was able to write this weekend and we will get another letter on Thursday... or maybe he'll get the chance to call this week.

Yesterday work was extremely stressful and it made me glad that I was not the manager there anymore. WOW! One person's temper would have had her going home yesterday! WOW! I have never seen someone get THAT ANGRY - kinda like what you see in Psycho Movies. And then I had a customer go off out of her mind - must have been something in the air. Needless to say I am not going near there today! I'm looking forward to a quiet uneventful day here at home for the most part.

My chest is hurting again this morning so I took a Vicadan and a muscle relaxer that the DR had prescribed last week. On November 6th I will be having an Echo-Cardiogram run to be sure there is nothing hiding that the EKG didn't pick up. I will have the results of the A1-C test they ran in a few more days. This aging business sucks after 40!

Well I better get my day started!

Space Heater

We utilize this little space heater every year. We just keep the house at 60 to 65* and then move the little heater from room to room depending on which room we are using at the time. Saves a lot of money as we are just heating the space we need and not the whole house. The cats LOVE it when this comes out of storage; I believe that they think we have it just for them.

LOVING THURSDAYS!!!!

We received another letter from Greg today. He says he misses us all the time and wants photos - wallet sized of family, friends and pets... oh and of his car. So I took some to include with my next letter to him. They did not print out very clear as the color cartridge is starting to go in my printer but I think he will still enjoy getting them. I finally found a pocket sized address book and now I've got to get Blain and Jason's addresses (two of Greg's friends). I'm just so happy to hear from him; hopefully he will get to call home this next week. He said there are several jokers in the group that have not caught on that it's not the proper time for joking and all they are doing is adding on more training for their entire Division. Greg said he is growing quite weary over it and is tired all the time. I bet he is getting quite strong.

Doctor Update

Well I'm back in from the Doctors office and my heart seems OK from the EKG But they've scheduled an Echo-cardiogram for the 6th of November. They also drew blood for an A1C test as they think maybe it's actually my sugar out of whack. They ran a quick sugar test this morning and it was at 172 with me having just a cup of coffee this morning. Perhaps I've passed that borderline diabetic line and have become a full blown diabetic. Time to make some real changes to diet and exercise around here.... should have done it several years ago.

Been a few days... I Know

Why not hop on over to http://thebeginningfarmerswife.blogspot.com/2008/10/joys-of-10-foot-ceilings.html for some fun reading and a pizza crust recipe that sounds wonderful. Although I'm not fortunate enough to have 10 foot ceilings and even if I did I'm not so sure I could throw it up and toss it about without putting my fingers straight through it. LOL

I've made an appointment for 8:50 in the morning as I've been having chest pains for about a week now and am not resting very well. Some say it's my heart and other's tell me it sounds like stress. I'll see what they come up with at the Dr's in the morning. I'll probably end up back on the anti-depressants. UGH! I hate taking medication!

Business is cranking up at the store with people making Halloween costumes and starting on Christmas gifts. It's looking like a homemade gift will find it's way into a lot of peoples hands this year. And it's good basic stuff - blankets, quilts, aprons, pot holders, clothing, scarves... good useful items.

Got word today that my Aunt Janie is in the hospital again. She had to have her dialysis shunt replaced and she nearly bled to death last night as the surgery sites popped open. I hate how they do surgery and then send people home the same day. I think that they should stay under a doctors care for a minimum of 24 hours after surgery... 48 would be better. Needless to say her care givers had to call an ambulance to take her into the hospital. I may go by to see her tomorrow afternoon if I finish at the Doctors earlier than I think that I will.

Greg last year about this time....

So many things have change since this time last year.Greg is about to finish up his second week in Boot Camp so that means 2 less of waiting to hear from him. It's hard to wait on the letters and even harder for a phone call... we haven't heard his voice since the day he left and he and I talked everyday about everything. I wish I could mail hugs as I sure would send some. I am writing everyday but it's not the same. Scott and I are thinking about making the trip up to his graduation in December; I so want to do that as I want to watch him going through the ceremony and be there after to hug and hold him. Sorry just really missing him today! Got to go into work now.

Quilt Block Gift for Ill little girl

I made this little stitchery block up for an ill little girl in TX that is about to have her 7th surgery - she is 1 years old. Her Grandma at Morning Ramble is going to make her a quilt with these donated blocks to take with her to the hospital and to have as a nurture blanket for the rest of her childhood. This stitchery looked so much like the little girl I HAD to do it up for her. There is a link to her Grandma's blog on the left.

OOPS! Just realized I need to stitch her lips on in the reflection.

Peppers from the garden!

I made omelets this morning with one of these peppers from the garden and they were YUMMY! I have quite a few peppers left on the plants and will need to watch the weather quite closely so I don't loose them to frost. I so wanted a bunch of bell peppers to cut up and freeze for Chili this winter but nearly all our plants are this type of pepper.

Chilly Sunday Morning

I had to close windows and turn the heat on this morning to knock the chill off the house. It won't have to stay on long as it's supposed to warm up to the 70's later.

We are to go to Long Horn Steakhouse today for dinner with my Mother-in-law, Brother-in-law and his wife to celebrate MIL's 81rst birthday. I bought her a Reflection's candle last night in the color of her newly re-decorated room. Hopefully she will like it.

I slept really well last night and feel a bit better this morning. Yesterday morning I had a horrible start to a migraine and just felt BLAH! I LOVE Fall as it's cooler and the air is crisp and clear and you can open windows and sleep deeply. Coffee smells even richer in the mornings and I start to long for soups, chili, pumpkin pies and home made rolls or biscuits. It's a time to slow down and reflect on the year.

I GOT MAIL!!!!!!!!!!!

YEAH! Two envelopes from Greg! He seems to be doing well but missing home cooked meals and us. He says that he just hopes that he can remember all that they are teaching him.

Picture's I found of Greg

I found these pictures of Greg while searching around myspace.com..... LOL!We'll use these as a "before" Navy memory. Can't wait to see him in Uniform!

Thankfully my teeth are healthy....

HA HA HA!!!! We have too many cats that would have to fight over false teeth so I'm glad Scott and I haven't reached that point yet and with any kind of good luck we won't.

Missing my Boy!

I'm home and missing my son; wishing he was just in his room and not in Illinois. I know he is doing something amazing and beneficial but that doesn't make it any easier. OH well... one week down 7 to go and thats better than 8... right? In the mean time I have his address and can write to him everyday if I want to.

Buttons and Button Holes is all that is required!

One reversible jumper sewn and ready for buttons and button holes! I LOVE how these are turning out. I will need to find a couple black, orange or blue t-shirts for Abby-Dabby before I mail these up to her.

Give a Listen

Wendy at http://wendyusuallywanders.wordpress.com/ has this link posted on her blog and I feel this message is worth passing along and listening to. We are giving our rights and freedom away everyday and it won't be long until we are living by Government Rule in the guise of protection.

Reception

While waiting for the shuttle up to the Esmeralda Inn Scott took a picture of where the ceremony was held from across the street and then we got some pictures inside and out of the Esmeralda Inn and then during the reception... We didn't get many as we were sitting around the corner and couldn't see much of what was going on during the reception.

Charles Wedding

Just a few pictures from Charles's wedding... It was a lovely ceremony. Scott caught the photographer just in case no one else did so they will have a picture of him for their album.

Wedding Bell's for Charles and Alina

We are trying to get up and around as we need to leave here by 8-8:30 to get to my parents house to pick them up and then on to Chimney Rock for the wedding of by brother Charles. Better get rolling... got to cut Scott's hair and get a shower, dressed and UGH... makeup. I'm not one to wear makeup often and I usually have to buy fresh each time a special occasion arises as it will have been a year or two since I last wore any. My Grandmother always called it "war paint"!

While I was at work....

Apparently Tesla has really started to miss Greg and was pining for him so bad that Scott let him in Greg's room and these are photos that Scott took of Tesla in Greg's room. He said that Tesla was meowing and rubbing on everything in Greg's room. Or perhaps he is making it HIS ROOM now... greedy little booger!

Blooms in the yard and "the boys"!

I noticed that our Confederate rose has started to bloom all ready and of course the cats HAD to have their photos taken since I had the camera out. The butterfly bush has a few sparse blooms that the bees are still enjoying and our neighbor's Papas Grass is in it's full glory as well.

Keeping a keen ear for the phone

We have not heard from our son since the 8th just before he was to fly to Illinois for Boot Camp. I'm hoping he is doing all right and will call soon. Hopefully they just have him very busy and he will call when he can. I'm anxious to hear what he thought about flying as he had never been on a plane before.

Today was hectic at work and I'm exhausted! Good Night!

It's Friday!!!!!!!!

Wow! The end of the week got here fast! I'm working tonight and then tomorrow morning. Sunday is Charles's wedding and yesterday I went and got my hair cut for that... WOW! Where did that gray haired woman come from... I'm sticking with the gray. It makes Scott and I more matchy! lol Perhaps we will get a picture taken Sunday of us all dressed up at the wedding that I can post later.

I've started a couple reversible jumpers and a crocheted doily. Anything to keep me busy right now. I'm taking the jumpers into work today so that Barbara can walk me through how to sew them together easily. The pattern was not written to be reversible and she said the way I was talking about doing it was off a bit and that she's help me. The doily I am making for MaryLou as she had made me a couple detailed dishcloths awhile back and I want to do something nice for her now.

Scott's busy stirring the political pot around Cayce by handing out brochures comparing Mayoral Candidates. And together we are cooking meals and eating in more often. The cost of going out to eat is definitely the first place to save for us.

Haircut Options

I'm attending my brother, Charles's wedding on Sunday and need to get my hair done before then so am planning to go in for a cut after work tomorrow... maybe even color. Not sure on that part as I keep saying that I need to accept this gray as my own and live with it. Here are the options I'm going to choose from... any feedback from anyone would be appreciated.

Another year nearly gone...

Hello to all those that have followed this blog for some time. I have not posted in quite awhile so thought I would pop over and write some...
