February in Review

Greg had bought a discount bag of bananas one weekend we were down at the house thinking it would give him bananas for the week. Little did he know the 4 bananas on the top of the bag were the only regular sized in the bag the rest were mini-bananas. The look on his face was priceless!

 We just LOVE our cottage kitty trio; they each have a unique personality that is all their own. Callie goes on "patol" about the yard making sure no interloper invades HER yard.

 Howie is the largest of the three and the biggest baby. He waits for Scott EVERY night so he can get a good scratching and a cuddle from "Dad" cat.  During storms Howie is almost inconsolable and will cry and cry.

This past weekend we were down at our house doing a bit of work in the yard and garage. So much was in bloom...

The Hawthorne cherry tree in the front yard was stunning and alive with bees as well. It and the cedar behind it I planted years ago when they were each about a foot tall.

This Tulip Magnolia always puts on a grand show every year.

The kitties really missed us while we were away and stuck so close to me when we got back. Makes me wonder if they had some trouble with something or someone when we were gone.

 Yesterday Scott and I went up to Travelers Rest to walk at the park and then go to Goodwill for "Old Fart Tuesday" - Seniors Day so we could save another 25% off our purchases.

WOW... May is nearly over

Here it is the 26th of May already... POOF and it will be gone. I guess I need to catch up on here again. So much for daily blogging like I used to... really need to get back on the stick.

Ok where to start? I find if I check my camera I will find the prompts I need to write about every time. So lets go...

May 7th we were wrapping things up and I took a few photos to remember the work we had gotten done and to share that Greg has taken an interest in gardening and has planted nearly the entire garden in vegetables. So far he has peanuts and watermelon growing out there. I really miss the garden so very much. Now that I am home full time once again I could be out there every morning. AH well life has taken us on another path for now. Hopefully one day we will have a new home and a new garden to work.

 Of course Bernadette was happy we had come down. Amelia and Bernadette always love a freshly mowed lawn.

Totally Random here... I found a punk wig for Greg's mannequin at a thrift store so she is no longer bald... for less than $2 .

On May 10th Scott and I took a walk along a portion of the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Travelers Rest. It is a GORGEOUS walkway and could easily be our replacement for our beloved Cayce Riverwalk up here. I am really hoping we can find a new home in Travelers Rest as it is so beautiful up there and that is where Scott father grew up. It holds a lot of special memories for Scott. The Real Estate is quite expensive up there though so we will see if we can fins something that we can afford that fits our needs/wants.

May 11th - was our 32nd Wedding Anniversary and Scott surprised me with a dozen red roses.

Tippy just "chillin~" with Mom... he is quite the spoiled little wretch.

I guess I will close this post here as it is already quite photo heavy and I know that some folks have a hard time with lots of photos loading. I will write another post to finish out May next week. I hope everyone is having a lovely Spring on this side of the World and settling into Fall on the other.

Saturday Exploration

In Pickens, South Carolina

This past Saturday Scott and I took a break from home repairs and explored a bit more of the area. We stopped at The Stockade Antiques as I have been wanting to stop there ever since I first drove past it. It was a little creepy but the antiques were so lovely that we didn't mind "being in lock-up".

This piece had such beautiful inlay work and I believe it had bronze metal work as well... if not bronze than brass. It's one of those pieces that I fell in love with but would never buy it to have in my own home as I go for durability and usefulness above beauty. And it was absolutely stunning and I hope someone will take it to their home and appreciate it.

They had several round tables and if the new home will allow it space wise I want one in the kitchen. I would probably get one in oak... a sturdier wood than this one though. I just love a round table as I think it is easier to have a conversation with everyone you have at the table and not just the two people to the right and the left of yourself.

Scott LOVED the old butcher block in this photo (toward the back and left). It was well worn from YEARS of use.

I adore beds like this but again I would not have one as it doesn't look very sturdy.

We also stopped at a couple thrift stores; one of which was the Goodwill not far from the house and I found a couple things to bring home... of course.

The box at the front was something to hold knives I do believe and was $2.49. I have since ripped the inside bits out and will be doing something artistic with this to use on a coffee table to store little bits. The tree pillow was a previous find that I bought at the ReStore a couple months back. I just loved  the colors in it. The blingy pillow was one of Saturdays purchases... $2 at Goodwill. I thought it would go well with the tree pillow and I love them sitting together (close-up below). I also got a skein of crochet cotton for 99 cents and the cross-stitch kit was $2.99. We never spend a whole lot on these adventures as it's all about just seeing whats there that counts. We always have so much fun together thrifting.
