More Signs of Spring

Yesterday morning I was standing at the kitchen sink and something bright pink caught my eye and then it disappeared so I kept watching and it reappeared -  it was the throat of a male green lizard walking up the electric drop line to the house. I grabbed my camera and went out to try to capture a picture of his display but once I got out there he stopped and would only walk along the line; no more throwing his pink throat out for attention. I guess he perceived me as a predator and decided to stop drawing attention to himself.

Scott's garlic has started creating scapes (flower heads) so that it won't be much longer before we are harvesting the garlic. I need to look up more ways to store this wonderful produce.

You can actually eat the scapes and we have in scrambled eggs. The flavor tastes like garlic but not as intense as a clove of garlic.

Yesterday I also completed this dish clothe; it's knitted on the diagonal and then I did a single crochet around the edge. I will be mailing this somewhere on this planet as part of the dish clothe swap on Down to Earth The colors are a little off in this picture but I tried several times and this was the closest I could get. It's a bit deeper brown than pictured.

I'm working my last afternoon and weekend shift today. I will be starting a new set shift and will only be working Monday through Friday EARLY mornings - off by lunch time everyday. I'm so excited about this I just can't express how much in writing. Home in the afternoons and evenings with my dear husband and every weekend... WONDERFUL! Perhaps we will finally get some household repairs and projects done. We have always worked better as a team around the home front.

  2. I've never grown garlic but think I'll try it this year.

I'm so glad you got the better work shift. Grampy and I are like a matched set and also work better together.

  4. Great news! I would much rather work in the early morning, too. You'll be able to do so much more that you WANT to do.

Our lizards are brown with red throats. They are known to gnaw on exterior phone wires. My SIL has had hers replaced too many times to count!

    Love the dishcloth too!
