Just Catching Up

Yesterday I turned 48... thanks to all that said, "Happy Birthday!" It was greatly appreciated. I spent the day at my Mom's with my two youngest nephews running wide open! They are 2 and 3 and everything the 3 year old does the 2 year old follows and he will repeat everything the 3 year old says as well. I also got to see two of my Uncles while there as they live next to my Mom and come down to her place for coffee and the Newspaper puzzles every morning. The "Criptoquote" did my Uncle Lenny in and he left it for Mom and I to do. It took Mom and I awhile but we finally figured out the quote:

“Nature composes some of her loveliest poems for the microscope and the telescope.”
Theodore Roszak, Where the Wasteland Ends: Politics and Transcendence in Post-Industrial Society

My son and his girlfriend gave me a lovely necklace. Sorry I tried and tried to get a "good" photo but it's "bling" was just too much for my photographic abilities.
It is quite lovely and I will cherish it.

I enjoyed seeing what was in bloom at my Moms' place so when I came home I decided I'd take some pictures of our Hawthorne Cherry tree that is in our front yard. Of course it was too dark to take them last night so I took them this afternoon. It's alive with bees and the leaves have started to "pop" out.

I made a quick stop at Bi-Lo on my way home from work and bought a few of the "specials" that I also had coupons. I got $90.15 worth of food items for $41.36 for a savings of 46%. With buying just the sale items and paring them with coupons I am building up a stock pile that will feed us for months if one or both of us ever loose our jobs again. I don't buy anything that won't be good after 6 months so I'm never letting things go past their sell by date.

I wanted to share this photo of the shelving unit we found "curbside" that fits our cabinet space for storing our stockpile perfectly. We REALLY need a freezer bad - ours died several months back. IN TIME! I'm not putting ANYTHING on a credit card. We have that burden off our shoulders and I'm not ready to go back to that enslavement anytime soon.

I'm hoping the weather clears off tomorrow so that we can do some work in the back yard and vegetable garden.

HAPPY WEEKEND!

It doesn't take much time to build a stock pile as long as you keep adding an item or two every week..
    Happy weekend to you
