I finished this yesterday and have it boxed up and ready for Greg to take to his friend the next time he goes over to visit. I think it turned out quite lovely and I am hoping that she will enjoy it for many years.

Oh, what kind of yarn did you use for the dishcloths? Right now I use a really simple 100% cotton yarn from a company called "Lily Sugar N' Cream"...it's inexpensive...and right now I can't afford the organic cotton, so I use that...but it's really nice, and is a real workhorse...and it knits up beautifully. I forgot to buy yarn today...and I'm already going through symptoms ofyarn withdrawl...hee hee hee :) :)

Thanks for stopping by Heather! I use Lily sugar n'cream, Bernat - Handicrafter Cotton or Lion Cotton - whatever I can find the best sale on. I can hardly stand to work with regular worsted weight acrylic yarn anymore. I'm drawn to the more organic fibers but you are right - they can be quite expensive.

ReplyDeleteI think we are kindred spirits in yarn. I use Lily Sugar n' Cream and Lion Cotton too...usually I buy the Lion Brand..when I'm at Fred Meyer...because it's closer..but I prefer the Lily Sugar N' Cream. I haven't used Bernat in awhile. I do love those GIGANTIC skeins of cotton yarn though!!! It's pretty cool. I usually buy the latter two yarns at Joann's Fabrics..and right now they have this neon Bernat cotton yarn...and I'm not to keen on neon at the moment :) :)
I don't kniw with acrylic at all anymore. I can feel the difference and it's not good. HOWEVER, the one exception is when I"m knitting socks. I like to buy German sock yarns that have a tiny bit of acrylic for reinforcement...no more than 15% usually...and those are really nice...like Opal or Regia etc...
In fact, I"m going to a yarn store in Ashland, OR tomorrow called The Websters..and they have lots of nice yarns..The cotton yarns are spendy, especially if you go organic...BUT Tahki makes some really nice bsic mercerized cotton yarn...about $5.50...also not cheap, but the cheapest that this store carries. It's nice though...and if you can , you should knit with it at least one time!!! :) :) :) You're a sweetheart. Thanks for replying to my post!!!!
