Hello... 29 Years Together!

Sunday will be our 29th Wedding Anniversary!
Well here it is Sunday... our 29th year of wedded bliss. It's not all been roses and happiness but together we have made it through and I still love him with all my heart. We have decided to wait until next weekend to celebrate the day as it is also Mother's Day here and we wouldn't be able to get in at any restaurant today and the traffic will be horrible. But Friday we plan to make a day trip to Beaufort, SC for Seafood and a day in a place we've never been together before. Our only "plans" are to eat seafood and stop anywhere that strikes our fancy along the way. We both HATE planned trips where everything you do is on a schedule. We don't want to rush through the experience but to truly immerse ourselves in it and feel it's real joy.

Friday Scott mowed the back yard and cleaned up some old dry brush that had been waiting for us to get back to it. It was so dried out he decided it would be easier to burn it up in one of our empty beds in the garden instead of trying to bag it for curb pick up. I was kind of surprised that one of the neighbours didn't call the Fire Department on us for out door burning.

We started harvesting the garlic about a week or so and finished getting the rest up yesterday. It looks so beautiful stacked out to dry and when we open the porch door it smells like an Italian Restaurant.

Potatoes peeking out

We are going to build another shed that will be 10x12 foot to hold Scott's tractor so he can open up space in the garage. We are planning to build our own kitchen cabinets and some more book shelves.
Yesterday we decided to go out to the SC State Farmers Market for some plants. We bought 6 Tomatoes, 6 yellow squash, 6 cucumbers, 6 bell peppers and 6 snap dragons. We came home and finished harvesting the garlic and got it all planted just before a rain shower. I hope we don't loose anything to cut worms.

I made another card; I found the idea for it on Pinterest and made it up by looking at the picture. I really liked how it turned out.
I also created another beaded wind-charm can't really be called a wind-chime as it doesn't make any sound, just looks pretty. Both the card and the wind-charm were part of a swap package that I put together and mailed out yesterday to my swap partner. I hope she will like them as well as the other goodies that I made.

I better get off here now and get some things done around this house. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

  1. Happy 29th to you two!!! Have a great time together next weekend.

It looks like you've got plenty of projects to keep you busy and I like your 'wind charm'. Very interesting.

  2. A hearty congratulations to you and Scott on your long lasting love and life together. How wonderful. And yes, structured plans can suck the fun out of travel--I hope you enjoy your meandering to the utmost. Our garlic and garden are coming along well, too...though I don't know we'll ever have as a nice a garlic crop as Scott. We ate fresh picked spinach with breakfast. Its about to enter a really yummy season!
