The boss and I decided to start the day at 4 AM so I awoke at 1:43 and decided it was time to get up and moving. I wasn't sleeping well anyway. It's cold and rainy... not a good combination to drive in on an early Saturday morning - hopefully people have enough sense to call a cab if they've been drinking. We were nearly hit last night on our way to the Post Office; they were either drunk or on their phone ... they got a healthy dose of my horn blowing at them as I swerved off the opposite side of the street to avoid them. I hope it scared the crap out of them... I know my heart was racing. IDIOTS!
Scott and I went to Zesto's last night for dinner and then drove down to the boat ramp to see how high the river has gotten. There was a lot of garbage built up along the dock. It was a mixture of Nature but too much HUMAN junk. So sad to see so much garbage in the river.
I'm trying to get caught up on my blog reading; got a little behind over Christmas. I hope everyone is doing well and has a wonderful and safe New Years! We aren't planning on doing anything special as I have to work the day before and the day after January 1, 2013. I guess we should all be glad the World is still here... HA HA! People go crazy over the silliest made up things. Perhaps that was the largest rock they could find to carve a calendar into for goodness sake.
I've been thinking about signing up for Adsense but am wondering if it's really worth the time and annoyance on a blog. Does anyone that reads this blog use Adsense? If so do you find it "worthwhile" financially? Are the Ads disruptive to the over all feel of your blog? Are the Ads REALLY for things that tie into your blog? Have you had a lot of complaints about the Ads? Thanks for any input!
After breakfast we exchanged gifts with our son and then went back over to Scott's Moms' for a beautiful meal that we all over ate dreadfully. I had bought some Christmas Crackers to add a bit of fun to the meal.
After leaving Scott's Moms' he and I decided to go for a walk instead of laying down as we were so full. Of course it was by the river...
I hope that everyone is having a wonderful Christmas morning. It's a gray drizzly day here in South Carolina. I wouldn't mind it IF it included some snow to make it feel more like Christmas. Growing up in Upstate NY Christmas meant snow and I miss it terribly.
Last night we exchanged gifts with my in-laws. Here are some pictures...
Scott and his Mom checking out her new laptop.
Greg opening his Beavis and Butthead boxers from his Aunt.
This is the little box I altered for my Mother-in-law.
When we returned home Scott and I decided to open our gifts to each other and Greg opened one of his but wanted to wait to open the rest this morning after breakfast.
The indoor/outdoor cordless weather station that Scott wanted.
A new set of tamper proof bits.
YEAH!!! Prismacolors!
Scott's silly picture for me to "Remember him by"... NUT!
Scott also got me a kids art set and a jar of modeling paste. I'm wanting to expand into Mixed Media this year and will be buying supplies for that. So I will be checking thrift stores and such for odd bits like watch parts, old hardware, chains bits, etc... to use in projects.
So that is our Christmas so far. I hope you all are having a wonderful day!
I received two lovely surprises in my mailbox today. I'll go alphabetically...
First a quilting friend, Carrolyn sent me this AMAZING organizer. I love this! It is SOOOOOOoooooo me! She does such beautiful work. THANK YOU CARROLYN!!!!!!
Carrolyn was my "Secret Santa" in the online quilting group I belong to on Yahoo.
Then I found another "squishy" in my mail and this one was a real surprise as I was not expecting anything else in the mail. Maria you sneaky gal you! I love the card and envelope; I'd never seen any that size or shape so I am going to carefully open the envelope completely so that I can create a pattern from it to make some more envelopes like it to send to my paper crafting friends. They will use them in projects for sure. Of course the "goodies" inside the package were AMAZING!!!
Thank You BOTH so very much you really brightened my day!
I just wanted to pop in and say hello. I've been busy as I'm sure we all have been but I didn't want anyone to worry about me being away for much longer. So I'm going to post a few pictures of things I've been making and doing before I leave for another 4 AM start.... ONLY 1 week left to go!
Gift's from a sweet gal on You Tube.
The gal I made the fancy "W" for sent me some wonderful cotton fabrics and a BEAUTIFUL mini-canvas in return. And her Mom made me the pretty earrings. LOVE IT ALL!
Nicholas enjoying the space heater.
We've actually had a few chilly days this past week and Nicholas has enjoyed being near me and the space heater. He is such a "Love Bug" and adores being held; quite the opposite of the other cat, Tesla. Tesla only lets the males of the house hold him without growling, hissing and carrying on. Seems he'd treat me better since I'm the one that cleans up after him, changes his litter box and am usually the first one up so I feed him. GEEZ!
We worked in a short walk by the river Saturday and then a trip to the Antique mall. I'll post a little more about that trip later.
Fungi braving a chilly day.
This leaf was HUGE - as big as a dinner plate.
Below the old Locks.
One MEAN vine.
Beside the Locks at a look out point.
I created this card for a challenge a friend in South Africa put up on You Tube. She will draw a winner from all who make a teddy card and share a video of it with her and the winner will receive a CD of "How to make a bear". So of course I had to participate.
And my final note... my heart goes out to all the families in Connecticut that lost the dear family members last week. May your best gift this year be Comfort from all of us thinking of you.
I finished this ornament yesterday and thought I would share a few photos of it before I wrap it up. I'm in the middle of creating all sorts of things so more photo's of projects will be showing up on here. These are a lot of work but turn out so BEAUTIFUL!
