A Question answering post....

#1 Whats Insul Bright - It's a material you use in potholders to protect YOU from the heat. You buy it by the yard at fabric stores and it is usually found with the "utility fabrics". Here is a scan of the paper instructions that come with it.
I'm making these... quick-and-easy-qayg-scrappy-potholder

#2 How can I bare to send a beautiful Round Robin on to the next person... well my block is also traveling around getting rounds added to it. Here it is as I put it in an envelope...
And here it is after Anne did her magic on it....
So we ALL win a beauty by the time they return to us. It's what makes it so fun for all participants. I will post pictures of all the completed ones once pictures are posted on our group site so that you all can see how they all turned out.

And THANKS to all for the "quilty" appreciation. If you ever have a desire to quilt... JUST DO IT! You'll never turn back once you start - just so you know.

  1. I have been making potholders, too, using Insul-bright. I made 6 for the church bazaar this week. I think I need to make one for myself! I hope you get to make one for yourself, too.
Did you also use batting too? I used Warm & Natural cotton batting (making an Insul-bright sandwich) and wow, my sewing machine did not like sewing through all those thicknesses.

  2. I like the gals way of doing it where you are quilting as you go through just the fabric and one layer of the Insul-Bright. I will be adding a square of Warm and Natural just as she did at the end and then sew all the way around through all the layers with a walking foot on my machine. I'll let you know how mine does with all the layers.

  3. HI Becky :) :)

Nice to get the low-down on Insul-Bright :) :) I like the idea of not burning my hands on the oven :) :)

Your quilt block is really nice and the lines are so clean :) :) I think you're right about the quilting addiction. Once you start, you can't stop. I'm always wishing I had ten pairs of hands to make all the beautiful quilts I see. There's something about a quilt that makes it classier and more beautiful than a regular blanket ;) :) I think it's all the fabric, stitches, love that go into making them :) :)

Have a great Sunday and a Happy 4th of July :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
