Egret Watching

Last night Scott and I drove down to the boat ramp to do a little Nature watching and Scott spotted this Egret in a puddle off the side of the road and had me turn around and go back so we could watch it some. When we got near to where he had seen it I had to look and look as it had walked on into the trees a bit as they are quite shy. I turned the engine off and we sat there and watched it for a little while and I was able to get some photos and a short video of it hunting. He or she was such a beautiful creature and we thoroughly enjoyed watching it go about it's life. I hope you enjoyed watching it as much as we did.

  3. What a magnificent creature. Oh, those long, black legs! Amazing. I've never seen a Greater Egret (I'm assuming that is what you've found here) as their home territory and migration range never cross the borders of Montana. I saw a cattle egret once in North Dakota. It seems like white birds would be boring in the world of color that is the avian kingdom, but there is some remarkable that whiteness. Its pretty amazing. What a treat! Good eye, Scott.
