Crafts and OWIES!

Mermaid Charms all packaged up in handcrafted packaging ready for my swap partners.

Handmade yellow roses for a new crafting friend

Stick pins to go in an altered box for another swap.
Made up tags to hold the three flowers for my swap partners
More flowers I created today.
I'm hoping that those I am doing the swaps with enjoy the items that I have created. I still have to alter a box this weekend. I may get a start on it tonight by gluing some legs to the bottom. That way the glue can dry overnight and I can start painting it tomorrow.

About 30 minutes ago I stepped on a wasp here by my desk and let out a scream that would have awoke a Banshee I am most certain, I'm doing what I can with home remedies and OTC drugs but my foot is still swelling. MAN IT HURT LIKE CRAZY! My goodness it hurts so bad. Boy oh boy can one small creature pack a wallop that's for sure.

Interesting sightings

Black Faced Fox Squirrel; Photo found on Google
Last night we had to pick up a prescription at the Pharmacy for Scott and while we were out we saw a black faced fox squirrel. Neither of us had ever seen one before and had to come home and research it. I didn't get a picture last night but here is one from a Google search...

It was so stunning and unusual and it didn't act like our regular squirrels.

After we saw the squirrel we decided to drive down past Amazon's Warehouse to see how the new Pharmaceutical Buildings were progressing... they are HUGE! Scott has applied for a job with them once they get open; he is hoping they call him for an interview. Anyhow on the way there we saw some gorgeous wild turkeys. I got my camera on my phone ready but by the time we got turned around and across the road they had scattered back into the woods so I was unable to get a photo of them either. They were beautiful; I never realized how very colorful they are.

We also saw a Heron flying over the extension and Scott saw something "big" moving around in a tree and thinks it was a raccoon or possibly an Opossum. It was just a wonderful wild life spotting evening.

Well I better get ready for work. They will probably cut my hours again today and I am off tomorrow. I think today I will sew when I get home.

Crafting

I've been doing a little crafting; here are the items I've made in the last week...
Fabric flowers

Hand beaded charms
I only got to work 2 and a half hours today before they were sending me home. I'm going to have to make some changes if this continues. I'm not earning enough for the gas I burn to get to work. We'll see what happens.

So with extra time on my hands be prepared to see more projects on here.

Our Backyard

Well about half of the backyard...

Busy around the house and taxes

Azaleas in bloom in front of our house
Yesterday we did a bunch of shredding on old paper work just gathering dust and I did ALL of our taxes - Scott and mine as well as our sons'. Thankfully we are getting a refund and won't have to pay anymore this year. We will be putting most of it aside for the car insurance which will come due in August. Greg is planning to get some work done on his teeth as he has needed fillings for several years but couldn't afford to get them fixed. I hope he follows through on it and doesn't end up blowing his refund frivolously.

Scott mowed the back yard yesterday after we had hit the e-file button for the last time. It looks a lot better and the dogs were so happy to have "their" grass cut. While he was mowing I started the difficult task of finding Bernadette inside the rag muffin mop that she turns into in the winter months. Anyone know a trick to dealing with matted hair on a dog? I still have a ways to go to have her completely trimmed but have to do it in short boughts so I don't stress her out or tear my back up. We just can't afford the cost of a groomer right now.

My hours are being cut pretty good so I am taking the opportunity to catch on on things around the house and to get our Summer garden started. And I've been working on some crafting projects - of course. I'll share more on that later in another post.

Saturday we had a lovely late Easter dinner at Scott's Moms'. I helped her with her knitting so she can get back into knitting dish clothes. And Scott made sure her laptop was up to date.

That is about it - nothing mind blowing or Earth shattering - same old same old.

So what WAS in those packages ANYWAY!

From Amelia in South Africa....

My Easter Basket from Enid...

And from Leslie for participating in her Pintrist challenge by creating a sign like one I saw on Pintrist...

WOW!

Well this week is just flying by here and tax day is looming... UGH! I guess I'm going to have to break down and do the stupid things. I hate doing the taxes! It always makes me use the long form and then we end up taking the "standard" deduction anyway because it's more than all the stuff I have to fill in. I wish you could just opt to take the standard deduction and be done... I could do all of them in less than 30 minutes then. So that is what I will be doing Saturday.

Yesterday was a wonderful mail day...
Three wonderful packages! One all the way from South Africa!
Tesla loved the crocheted piece that Amelia made for me and why not... it's HIS color. ha ha...

July 2024.... really?

Here it is another year since I have written on this blog. Since I found You Tube and started doing videos over there this blog has become ...
