Since I worked this past Sunday they were to give me a day off during the week and that day is today! YEAH! I'm looking forward to it so much I awoke at 4 AM! So much for sleeping "IN". My internal clock is just set and it's hard to change it. I remember in my 20's I'd stay up all hours of the night and then sleep all day - those days are over. I do enjoy an afternoon nap now and will perhaps take one this afternoon.
Yesterday I cut my right thumb pretty good at work; it's not looking too bad now but what a mess at work trying to get it cleaned out and wrapped. I'm keeping it clean and dry and have triple antibiotic on it so it should heal quickly. I was so glad when they said I was off today so that I can keep from bumping and abusing the injury. Tomorrow I will be back in the middle of it all and that is soon enough.
Christmas has been on my mind a lot these days. I see things I know my siblings would love but refrain from buying as we don't' really have the money right now. And then there is that little voice that says I shouldn't even worry about it as they don't stay in touch and I grow weary of being the one to always reach out to them. I've always had a loving and giving nature and it's hard for me not to give. UGH! I'm just so torn over it all. Perhaps I will just focus on the ones that make an effort to stay in touch with me and let that be it. I miss the closeness of Family.
I need to go through what we have in the cabinets and freezer so I know what I have left for meals for the next week or so. Creativity will have to come into play. I want to use up most of what we have that has been around awhile BEFORE I buy any new. Yesterday was a lovely breezy day and it got me to thinking about soup so perhaps I will make up a batch of vegetable soup today.
I know I'm all over the place this morning but my mind is racing with all these thoughts - just trying to get them all organized and prioritized in my brain! Perhaps today I will also get those PJ's finished!

Into the hat with ya'......
After a nice nap as I was really tired after work today... came home covered in sweat and glitter - I looked very much like a Glittery Christmas Fairy to be sure.
As I was waking I remembered that today was the day to draw a winner, so I printed off the comments and put them in a hat and Scott (dh) drew a winner....
So CONGRATULATIONS Robyn! If you will email me your snail mail address I will get these shipped out to you ASAP.

New Construction and WASTE!
We have a new housing development going in right behind our neighborhood and this evening we went to check it out. The houses are all laid out pretty much the same and "look" rich but when you examine the interiors you see where they are cutting costs... cheap fixtures, windows and such.
They're adding lots of fancy details to hind their short cuts.
THEN.... look at all the dumpsters in these photos. Every house has one or two sitting in front of it and when you peer inside it will make you heart sick! SO MUCH WASTE!
These homes are selling at nearly $200,000 and up! The lots are the size of postage stamps and there are no mature trees. It always kills me how they cut and bulldoze all the trees and remove the topsoil; build a house and then plant new trees that will take years to mature and the grass will usually die because it's being planted into soil with no nutrients.
CRAZY!
They put brick on the fronts only to make it look more expensive and then wrap the rest of the house in vinyl siding. CRINGE!
Scott couldn't stand it and had to fish two partial rolls of black roofing felt out of two of the dumpsters. In one dumpster he saw an entire roll at the back of the dumpster that had never been opened!
Just look....
There were probably enough 2x4's in these two dumpsters alone to build our two dogs some mighty fine dog houses not to mention the plywood! We would probably get arrested if we backed the truck up to one of these and just started loading it up. SUCH WASTE!
And then there was this gem....

My First Cat
My Mom sent me another batch of old picture's of me when I was little and I thought that I would share a few of me with my cat. I got him when I was 1 and he was named Katy Kat. He was stone cold deaf but was my World. He sure put up with a lot from me...
Every home I have ever lived in has gone through a remodel so it's no wonder I can put up with a lot of delays in the job... like our current den/kitchen remodel that got halted because of the lay off. It will all come together eventually.
Animals have always been a part of my life; here are a couple of me leading my Mother's pony... Booty...

One More Day
There is one more day to visit my give-a-way post for your chance to win some lovely Bamboo knitting needles.
Today was my only day off this weekend and I spent it "working" ; actually it wasn't too bad - I did a thorough cleaning on the house and it looks so nice and welcoming now. I got to thinking about how this past week went and decided I needed to make a change today so that next week will go better. I worked and I slept this past week; I think some of it was depression not just exhaustion from work. This not knowing what is coming next for us and whether we will be able to hold onto our home if something doesn't change soon is flat out exhausting. And I'm sick of advice! There are a million people fighting over the same 4 jobs and it's not as easy as they think. I know people mean well and knowing they care is appreciated but with all the over whelming feelings we are all ready dealing with listening to someone elses view on how we should live our lives is just exhausting. Scott is putting in applications 2 to 4 a DAY not the 4 a week required to keep his un-employment checks each week.
I can't work a million hours anymore; that would kill me. Scary heart palpitations and anxiety are not worth it. And all in all in the long run the house and the things in it are just "things" with no love or feelings. I'm sure we will make it and things will improve but last week was not a good week at all. I've got to get my positive energy back and decided today was the best day to start! So here is to putting the best foot forward and hopefully something wonderful will appear this week.
Don't forget that give-a-way --- http://lifeforus.blogspot.com/2011/08/fun-little-give-way.html I'll get my husband to draw a name when I get off work mid-day Monday from all those that leave a comment on that post.
I promise my next post will be more "FUN" - sometimes a girl just has to vent and I want a record of what we are going through now so I can appreciate it more later and for future generations to understand just how rough all this was for us during this recession.

SNACKS!
Everyday I'm greeted by these two...
And they wait in anticipation for me to say one word.... "Snacks"
Then they jump into action with a great amount of "talking" amongst themselves....
Glares at me and much rubbing on the cat food can! UNTIL... Snacks appear in their bowls and then there is quiet munching.
Tesla (the one on the left in the last picture) is currently "hunting" for Greg (our son) who has not returned from work yet. If one of us is out of the house too long Tesla will march around the house meowing from room to room. And when he hears a car door he will run to the kitchen door and wait for whomever has returned and will then hit them up for a snack.... could explain why he weighs 16 lbs.
