And I can just HEAR those North saying... HEY WHAT? It's just whet we say down here in the South to say "HELLO". I've not accomplished as much as I wanted this week; just feeling a bit under the weather. Just hoping it's not the stomach flu that our son just got over - BOY was he sick.
Spring and Summer are surrounding me at work. Valentines and St Patrick's are all over the place as well. Everyone at work wants me to attend tomorrow's Crop and show them how to make those never-ending-cards. Hopefully I will have a bit more energy by then.
I did want to write about the best $10 we have ever spent on a dog... it's a collar with a loop that goes over the dogs nose. It has made a WORLD of difference in our walking experiences with Miss Bossy Pants - Bernadette. She fights it a little when we first start a walk and then she just behaves so well for the rest of the walk as she knows that if she pulls any it will correct her immediately - no harsh words from us or any physical discipline required. Just a walk that we ALL can enjoy. Even Amelia; as Bernadette isn't able to puppy punch her in the face while wearing the collar. Perhaps we will take them to the River for a walk this weekend. We just haven't been taking them as Bernadette was so unruly and would jump on people. I walked the two of them around the neighborhood after lunch today and it went really well; perhaps we will make this a daily routine. I need the exercise anyway.
We are expecting some cold weather this weekend...

I'm going to really hate getting up at 3 AM Sunday morning and getting in that cold car at 4:30.... BRRRrrrrr... I'm glad we hadn't made any plans for out of town this weekend. One minute..."oh you won't be working Sundays" and the next "Oh we scheduled you for Sunday but we gave you Wednesday off" . Oh well... for now we need the money so I'll do whatever. But I can't help but think how nice retirement would be right now.

Hello to all those that have followed this blog for some time. I have not posted in quite awhile so thought I would pop over and write some...
I have a friend with a dog that goes ballistic when people come over to visit--jumping up, barking, licking, barking, jumping up again, and more barking, etc. That means he is such a bother that he used to get locked up when company came over. I always felt bad for him. He was obviously just excited to see us and he never got to because he could get calmed down. That loop over the nose collar you describe worked wonders on him. He tries to rub it off for a minute, but then just settles for hanging out, getting a scratch, and attention from visitors. It makes is much happier for everyone!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you've got even more pleasant walks to look forward to!
Our working dog used to wear a muzzle, occasionally he bite the sheep when they gave him a hard time. I noticed some of the other operaters dogs would be wearing one that you describe. A very good idea for your pooch by the sound of things.
ReplyDeleteA busy couple of days in my garden are coming up for me. Lots of lopping to do.
Have a great weekend, Becky.

Don't work too hard OK you work way to hard. It is a blizzard here after a freezing rain storm yesterday. I guess winter has come to Canada finally. B
ReplyDeleteHaving a dog is a great incentive to get out for exercise! Thanks for the birthday wishes!
ReplyDeleteHi Becky,
ReplyDeleteWe've just started using the same type of lead on one of our dogs "lilly". We call these Halti's in Australia but I think that's a brand name more than anything. Anyway it's working a treat and morning walks are now enjoyable !

Oh dear...hope you feel better soon Becky. It's gotten very cold here too in the last few days....I've got my wood heater and the wood cookstove going! Brrr!
ReplyDeleteI think the leash you bought sounds like one we used on Zoey when she was a puppy and we lived in a town where she needed to go for walks (now she is leashless and a country dog!). It was called a Halti (like Jen's). It kept her from pulling too much. It was a real arm saver!
