A Saturday in December

We started our day with our delicious biscuit breakfast and then we took the little gifts I bought to help a friend who is pulling things together to help 3 families that lost their homes recently. I hope the little ones will like the items I picked out for them.
Scott spotted these pallets awaiting pick-up near a warehouse near where he works and we went and picked up the longest ones to save them from the dump.  He will dismantle these and we will re-use the longest pieces in a building project. It took us two trips to get the ones he wanted. After we returned home he cleaned off the driveway and it looks a LOT better now.

I've been working on the laundry MOUNTAIN all day! It's gotten to be a one day chore lately as during the week I'm just too flat out exhausted to deal with it. Actually I have a few loads left and I've decided to let them wait until morning as I'm pretty tired tonight. I did get one crafty thing done today and now have another gift to wrap and put under our tree. I'm not saying who this is for so it will still be a surprise at Christmas.

Comfort and Remembrance

Last Saturday my Aunt Linda passed away from this Earth. She was quite special to me through my teen years. She bought corsages for my cousin, Heather and I for the prom as we went with friends as no boy was lucky enough to ask us. For Scott and my wedding she gave us a beautiful wool blanket made from the sheep that she hand raised on her farm in the 80's. I will always have it to bring her to the front of my memories. I've put it on the back of the recliner by our Christmas tree.
Thrifting finds

Burlap with keys.
Yesterday after Scott got home from work he wanted to visit His House thrift store to see if they had any old computers he could get a part off from cheap. He didn't have any luck but I found 4 things for my crafty side to use; some Aida cloth for cross-stitching, some curling ribbon, some black bow ties and some pearls. All were mine for $1!

After we left His House we stopped by Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts to see if I could find a remnant of tight red corduroy but they didn't have any at all. But I did find this piece of unique printed burlap that I know I can use in an altered project. The piece was marked $4.99 and then they take another 50% off that as it was a remnant. BUT the burlap was on sale so I got it 50% off the sale price so I paid just $1.75 for this piece...

This morning I had a craving for sausage, egg and cheese biscuits so I made some biscuits and Scott did the sausage and scrambled eggs. They were delicious... I even made a heart shaped biscuit with the bit of dough left after cutting out the biscuits.

Today it's all about laundry and crafting!!! More to come later!

The Last Couple Days in pictures...

Sunday Br3akfast - Ham & Cheese omelet with pork sausage links. Prepared by Scott

"Just Weeds" - I thought this seed display was amazing!

Tesla under HIS tree.

A completed project - an altered mini-vase from Goodwill turned into a pin cushion and 4 stick-pins that I created myself.

Goodies in the mail from a You Tube friend.

Scott walking in to get his first allergy shots.

Tonight's dinner - A dual effort by Scott and I - pork chops, broccoli casserole, corn bread, corn on the cob and some tomatoes from our garden.

GRUMPY

Thats me! GRUMPY! Didn't get enough sleep last night - missed a good nap yesterday and have to be to work at 4 AM this morning. I sure hope this case of grumpiness leaves me before I clock in. And today I am turning my phone off when I lay down for my nap.

The dogs just would not shut up last night and the fella's wouldn't settle in either. I was about ready to check into a motel for the night but knowing my luck a bus load of teens would have been at the Motel. GRUMPY GRUMPY GRUMPY!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS~

Yes I said it..... HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I have friends of various beliefs and I want them ALL to enjoy this Season of love, compassion and happy moments spent with family and friends. December 25th is the day Christian's celebrate Christmas but there are a lot of other wonderful Holiday's between our Thanksgiving in November and the New Year and I want to include ALL those as well. I cherish all my friends no matter what their beliefs and I would never want to miss out in wishing them all the love and happiness they can find during the Holidays.

Today I did a bit of re-arranging of furniture in preparation of setting up our Christmas tree and decorations.
I moved our son's desk into the den - yes by myself.

I will be setting up the tree and other decorations tomorrow.

I've got to get the tree set up so I have a place to put the packages that are starting to appear. I have more to wrap but will wait until I get the tree set up.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Yes I'm up and getting ready for work at 2:19 AM

I will be leaving in a few minutes for work. I'm not sure why I said "yes" to  this 3 AM start time but the good news is I will be off before most people get to work and I can get some things done here at home. Gotta pull out my Elf hat and get into the "workshop". Have a GREAT Friday!

July 2024.... really?
