Box from Gurneys

UPS just dropped off my "Grab Bag" box from Gurney's - $200 worth of plants that I got for $24. Wanna look inside?....
Here is what we saw after removing the packing material which I was thrilled to see was all Biodegradable; it's refreshing to find Companies doing their part to save the Environment. OK.... back to the goodies.

Here is what I pulled from the box 4 Rubus Navaho (Blackberries); 4 Rubus Black Satin (Blackberries); 3 Mixed Foxgloves; 4 Colocasia Esculeta (Elephant Ears); 6 Patty's Plum Poppies and 4 Johnson's Blue Geranium. I wish they had arrived earlier in the day but I will do my best to get them in the ground quickly as I know how fast they can die if I don't hop to it. I wonder how the neighbors would feel about me planting the front yard in edibles.

Elf at work...

Lions and tigers and bears?.... Nope it's to be an ELEPHANT! A gift for a nephew in the works. I have to get as much done by Saturday night as I am working 5 days next week. Running out of time quickly - this elf needs to work faster.
I'm working my way to completing the last three Christmas blocks; I want to get the last two mailed tomorrow and then I can put the ones I received together into a table topper for my large dining room table. I'll post pictures when I get it completed.
And a surprise on my ironing board - can you tell it's a Drill weekend?

Took a "Back" break

Literally I took a break from a lot of things the past few days or went along very slowly as I hurt my back pretty good and couldn't do anything without wincing in pain.

Today I am feeling a good bit better - I still wasn't able to sleep in my bed last night but got some good rest in the recliner. Yesterday I pulled out a project that I started awhile ago and have it nearly finished. It's a scrapbook for someone and I have 4 more to do. These will be surprise UN-BIRTHDAY/UN-CHRISTMAS presents. I can only post a peek... I want to keep it as much of a surprise as I can.

Last night I trimmed all the 2 inch blocks that I had sewn from the bits left from the trimming of the turning 4-T blocks so they are now ready to be sewn into small pinwheel blocks for a border around the center block that I had created last week from the rest of the trimming bits. Now I'm trying to decided which brown to use as a border around the center block; I like them both but am letting them sit on the cutting table for awhile and walking by and looking at them under different light levels throughout the day to see which one I like best. It's really silly though that I'm even concerned at all because this will be a quilt for my cat not a real decor piece or a gift. But I think he deserves the added attention I'm giving this decision.

July 2024.... really?

Here it is another year since I have written on this blog. Since I found You Tube and started doing videos over there this blog has become ...
