Down sizing for us is a MAJOR goal. I don't believe we will go as small as this couple but we will be in something a whole lot smaller in the future. And we have talked about it and will start now with down sizing our belongings - listing things on Craigslist, Freecycle and taking things to Goodwill. That way when it comes time to move we will have very little to actually move. Things don't make life enjoyable - experiences do.
We have bought two cabin plans; Lakeside Cottage and 16' Micro Cottage.
Could you live in something this small?

Hello to all those that have followed this blog for some time. I have not posted in quite awhile so thought I would pop over and write some...
I have thought of this many times, and I alone could do this..Dh & I together would need a little more space for HIS stuff! Yes, he collects things...however, we have decluttered, organized and gotten rid of stuff, first to our children, our second choice was center for homeless and women's shelter..
ReplyDeleteWe're quite the opposite when it comes to collecting and giving away..
We would love nothing more than to live smaller, but with the economy and the fact our home is paid for...we're still here in a big old 4 bedroom house, grateful to have a roof over our head...
~~HUGS~~
I have been thinking about simplifying and downsizing lately, too ... all the "stuff" we have is overwhelming -- and I have a lot less than everyone I know. Never mind craft stuff! Do you have any good book or website suggestions? Best wishes to you as you work toward your goal!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in letting objects become my life. However, I grew up in a home not much bigger than this little house. We each had one drawer--there were 5 of us incl. parents. It was not charming, nor wonderful. I came from a good and loving family....but there was never a place to think, nurture our souls, etc. I found no inner peace nor chance to discover who I was until I was given a little solitude and space.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a house a little bigger with 12 people yes I could live in a house this small but I don't think I want to.
ReplyDeleteFunny I just cleaned house and donated lots of my stuff to a thrift store that helps battered women. I feel so much lighter. I am going to keep going.
I think you are very smart and a cabin on the lake would be a great dream. B
